The same symptoms on other vehicles could be a coil pack on the way out. Mine did that before the pack goes into a hard fail and miss fire then the check engine light comes on. Could also be water down in the spark plug well(s) from washing or a coolant leak. Or could be a clogged injector...
I had a sticking valve on a pickup that would activate the ABS trouble light. I carried a ball pien hammer in the truck and gave it a wack every time it lit up for a few months, has been good for a few years never lit up yet. And replaced all the brake fluid and flushed system.
My two 5.4s were changed at 100,000 intervals with zero issues. My 3.5 ecoboost should see the same. And worth noting, the performance and fuel mileage did not change at all on my 2004 5.4, just changed the plugs a couple of months ago.
Glad my insurance plan on all our vehicles includes complete glass coverage and zero deductible on glass....so I don't have to worry about things like this....
With that kind of a hit the truck should haven been totaled. Yes they can be repaired but it can never be trusted. On a vehicle all sorts of things can happen with a strike beyond electrical issues. Wheel bearings, suspension, even internal engine parts could have been subject to arcing.
I really hate hearing about internal engine problems...change your oil often, keep it clean. Most likely won't have any internal engine issues down the road, none of my engines ever did. Max 3,000 miles on my newer ones and 2,000 on the old ones. Oil and filters are cheap compared to an engine.
Forced induction engines are known to dilute the oil with fuel. (Keep your foot off it more). On my '16 I change the oil every 3000, installed a JLT can and have always run Shell premium fuels. 41,000 on it and zero issues.
The worst thing you can do is retract the caliper pistons with the bleeders closed...never send old fluid back up the system. Things happen to valves and ABS parts....
Still waiting on the replay to the oil change interval mileage, type of oil and filter. My '16 and all other vehicles 3,000 max on oil changes and only use the recommended grade of oil, the 3.5 Ecoboost is 5w-30. Oil changes on the 3.5 with the turbo boost is really important. Don't even bother...
That is what my '06 started to be with me too many little things at the end. I bought it used with 130K on it and by 200,000 put a crate reman Ford tranny in it. Sold it 230K and the new owner blew it up with in a month...he opted for a reman crate engine. I found out after I bought it, the...
