Added tow mirrors to a 2016 XLT

Back then, it was really chrome. Heavy, hard, and shiny. Today, 'chrome' is most likely polished aluminum, a foil sticker, or silver paint. Almost no one uses chrome any more because it is expensive, and the EPA has a hard on for the chroming process.

    2 strange issues today

Sounds like your ECM is failing. Here is a report of my Mounty that experienced a forced engine shutdown at about 40-50mph on a 2-lane curvy road. None of the failures are related to each other, except by "loss of comms". BTW, the forced shutdown means no power brakes, no power...

You're gonna love this. Just scroll through and look at the build he did, and where he takes it. https://www.explorerforum.com/forums/index.php?threads/46-1991-explorer-in-iceland.415099/

    Amazon oil!!!???

I'm guessing the oil company is quite happy to be the supplier of an Amazon brand. Besides, there's no chance that Amazon will censor other retailers/distributors on the site. Whats next? Amazon toothpaste? Isn't this how Weyland Industries got started?

    Drivers turbo replacement...116,000 mile report.

There are some jurisdictions around the country that have passed "no idling" ordinances. Because, you know, idling kills polar bears or something.

    Wider tires?

On sand, you want wide, soft tires to float on top of the sand. On mud or snow, you want skinny to get down through the slush and into contact with something hard. On just wet roads, its difficult to say. Lots of variables, and every car will be different. Sand is an outlier when talking...

Repeated Waterpump Fails and frequent no Heat on 16'

As long as you are under warranty, you don't touch it. Let FOMOCO take the hit in the wallet. You should write a nice letter to a Ford Customer Service rep that details the issue, and at the same time applauds the dealer, to let them know the vehicle has an issue that isn't being resolved and...

New to the forum...extended warranty purchase question?

It is now, and has been for a while, cheaper to replace a TV than it is to fix it. And the new one will be better than the one that broke.

New to the forum...extended warranty purchase question?

No matter what you decide, read every word of that warranty. Some come with so many restrictions that they are rendered useless the moment you sign it.

    Surging in Manual Gears

By "surge", do you mean more power is being applied (engine changing state)...or is it more like a brake released and the truck starts to accelerate from gravity (transmission changing state)?

    need new tires

Warning: Extreme sarcasm ahead. No, not extortion. Just really smart people spending your money in ways you're too dumb to think of yourself or simply unwilling. One day, they'll figure out a way to spot the difference and solve the 'unwilling' problem.

    radio display went out

I had an aftermarket head unit in an Explorer that had everything, and I mean everything. Touchscreen, BT, Wi-Fi, Video in, video out, USB, Nav, 300w amplifier, played every kind of media made, etc.... Then about 2 years after installing it, the screen went out. It was still active and...

Buying a 08 Eddie Bauer and need clarity, please

I'm feeling the opposite. The dealer, apparently, is making a good faith effort to fix it before selling it, and didn't simply put some sawdust in the tranny to make a sale.

    2013 Expedition Long/Hard Crank

35 +/- 5 psi By design, it should hold it forever. There is no facility that depressurizes the system other than the injectors or a leak somewhere. Popping the system open for a fuel filter or hooking up a pressure gage will also do it.

    Driver Side Floor Mat.......2017

If its like mine, there are two "posts" the mat snaps onto. Grasp the mat near the 'post' and pull up. It should pop off. To replace, just push down hard.

    2013 Expedition Long/Hard Crank

Do this as a test: When you start it for the first time in the morning, turn the ignition to "Run" position, and let it sit for 15-20 seconds before starting it. Your fuel system may be allowing the fuel pressure to leak down after the pump shuts off. Give the pump some time to get back to...

Airbag light on 2008 Expedition XLT

The short explanation: A squib is small explosive charge that initiates a larger explosive charge. Its basically a fuze that explodes. In the airbag, its what those wires are connected to.
