Mike, absolutely do the change yourself. You will need a filter cap tool (photo) that is driven by a ⅜" socket wrench to remove the filter, and a funnel for the oil. I understand your desire to save money, but sometimes it is necessary to spend in order to solve a problem. Why not take your vehicle to an auto-electric shop where they solve electrical problems before the vehicle catches fire? Adding parts without proper diagnosis is wasting money.- Don Hall

If the coolant is low, no need to add more coolant. Just add water. Adding coolant to the plastic reservoir will not immediately fill the radiator. Coolant will only flow from the reservoir to the radiator during engine cool-down via a siphon. If the siphon is not working, the 'closed system'...- Don Hall
