    MPG when towing

I haven't towed with one, but what impresses me about the EcoBoost Expedition is that the power delivery feels like a diesel, lots of torque down low, so it doesn't have to downshift and run high RPMs whenever you want to accelerate..

Turbo coolant leak issue now on wifes 2016

This pissing match is getting ridiculous.. Your statement is kind of like assuming water cooling an internal combustion engine runs coolant through the combustion chamber, which would quickly evaporate it.. The Turbo bearings run in oil, like the pistons use oil for lubrication and cooling...

    2012 EL Limited w/125k for $17,995??

It seems the EcoBoost can be plenty reliable in the long haul, if cared for.. https://www.f150ecoboost.net/forum/6-f150-ecoboost-chat/28082-300-000-miles-my-2011-eco-boost-385k-mar-2019-a.html

    Problem Accelerating

Failed cats can cause considerable back pressure, depending on how the interior failed/deteriorated, which can essentially strangle the engine.. I remember my parents bought an '81 Chevy new, back when Cats were brand new to cars, and they had three cats fail in the first year of ownership...

Turbo coolant leak issue now on wifes 2016

Just like the Aluminum Panel Paint issues, and others I'm sure. Guess it cost them less to 'fix' a few for posterity sake, and deny the issue, than fix the problem area and provide a better product to their customers (not that Ford is alone in this practice, but it pisses me off...

How important is 3.73 axle for large trailers?

I'm pretty sure all the '15-'17 Limiteds, as well as the 202a package XLTs, have the HD tow package, even though most have the taller 3.31 gears. So its not the Gear ratio that sets the maximum towing capacity.. All (4wd) EL's have the 3.73 gears and a limited slip rear, but I hardly ever see...

Engine sputtering with momentary Eng light flashing

It should be stored for some number of drive cycles. Flashing usually indicates Misfires, but the Check Engine light 'usually' will remain on after the incident until so many drive cycles have passed without it reoccurring.

Back in the shop, this time for...

Assume the clutch packs you are referencing are in the limited Slip rear? Curious, is the dealership aware of the tune on your truck, and if so they don't give you any problems about drive line warranty work? Or are you reverting to a Stock tune before going to the dealership?

Engine sputtering with momentary Eng light flashing

Sounds like Ignition misfires. OBD Scanner should help you track it down to the bank, if not the cylinder. Plugs or Coils likely would seem like first place to start..

    Tire pressures

Since this is an enthusiasts community, and many people are running non stock tires, its probably helpful to also state the tire size, construction (P, P-Metric, LT) and load ratings. LT tires, for instance, will often run higher pressures than equivalent size in a P-Metric, to achieve the same...

Looks like Bilstein is now making 5100s for the 15-19s!!

The Vehicle Manufacturer and Tire Manufactures make recommendations based on testing and empirical data. I'm pretty sure their engineers aren't using seat of the pants impressions to make them, but apparently your more finely tuned than their testing equipment and methodologies. It is really...

Looks like Bilstein is now making 5100s for the 15-19s!!

Scratching head. You should do the chalk test to verify your hypothesis, and if you are right, reach out to Ford and the tire manufacturers to show them the error in their recommendations.. My experience has been that the tires maximum load capacity is at maximum pressure. In the case of the...

    2016 Suspension Question

There are likely guys around here with more knowledge than I on the subject, but the 2016 Brochure indicates Load Leveling suspension is an option on all trim levels (XLT, Limited, King Ranch and Platinum), and standard on none. I'm pretty sure that the Factory Nivomat load leveling shocks...

Bolt on upgrades for 17 XLT

I know this isn't the answer you are looking for, but it would probably cost you less in the long run to sell your truck, and buy one with the options you want..

    Headlight bulbs low beams.

Do any bulb updates really make a difference in the performance of the headlamps, or just a brighter hot spot in front of the truck? It seemed to me like the XLT reflector headlamps are just poorly designed from the standpoint of focusing and delivering the light down the road. I've heard the...

    Show your Lifted 3rd Gens

Its a pretty well documented side effect of lifting 3rd Gens, not sure there is really an answer other than staying stock. Still seems to me it would be a relatively simple option to offer longer control arms for the rear suspension, but whether its a lack of market, or technical issue, no one...

I'm buying an Expedition, suggestions and knowledge please!

Factory documentation states 9,200 for an EL 4x4 (or 4x2), were are you finding a rating for the additional 600 lbs? TO the OP, In General I agree, a 9K trailer is pushing the limits, and you may want to consider stepping up a weight class in your tow vehicle..

    Towing Capacity on Used Expeditions

Probably more important if you plan a bump in tire size, then in ultimate towing ability as you say, and Ford Seems to agree, given that the Max tow ratings don't vary by Axle Ratio. As someone else mentioned, I doubt you would ever regret getting the lower final drive ratio, but you probably...

    Towing Capacity on Used Expeditions

From what I am seeing, almost all of the '15-'17 Expeditions XLT's I find are axle Code '15', or 3.31 ratio, Non-Limited Slip. It appears, from the Ford Towing Guide documentation, that all 3.73 Axles are also limited slips, making this an even more appealing option to look for, but so far I...
