Funny you guys mentioning Marauders. A good friend of mine is selling me his 04 Toreador Red Marauder. He is the original owner and it just turned 50,000 miles. He purchased it as a sales car when he worked for a company that paid him to provide his own car. He moved on to another job where...

    Hillbilly Redneck

You have to pay close attention to your local authorties making the laws for zoning. Many are adopting HOA rules for their jurisdiction. Old friend of mine couldn't add a room to his home because it would violate his prescribed green space ratio. Since he didn't pay attention an ordinace was...

    JLT Oil Seperator

I have searched high & low for ecoboost issues. I can't find any failures or complaints relating to carbon build up. I've found Explorer carbon monoxide issues and Fiesta ecoboost motor issues due to a sensor allowing for overheating. Article below. With all of the millions of ecoboosts on...

    Hillbilly Redneck

Who else drove a tractor with no brakes pulling hay wagons every summer and just downshifted to slow down and shut it off in gear to stop? Luckily I never saw a car at the 4 way stop from one of the farmer's hayfiled in the 6 summers I worked there during MS/HS & college. Also so redneck you...

    Short oil life?

Why not 1,000 mile oil changes? Why is 3K better than 5K? My sister is driving a 2000 Honda Odyssey with over 230,000, no oil burning and the original owner did 6,000 to 7,500 oil changes.

Welcome. Nice rig. I too came from Toyotas, Sequoia, 4runner and Tacomas. So far so good.

oil change and shroud - should I be mad?

Yes you should be mad. The 2 worst services I had: A local tire place in Florida, forgot to tighten the driver's side front tire lug nuts after oil change and rotation. Tire nearly fell off going down the parking lot. A Yamaha dealership didn't tighten the drain plug on my girlfriend's R6...

How much are you guys paying for brand new '19s?

I just did a search on autotrader for 2018 Expedtion Max 4x4 Platinum and seeing used ones in the 50s & 60s (asking price) nationwide. Wow there is a new one for $68K down from $80K...

Then why do you support a company that you know puts out poor quality?

    JLT Oil Seperator

If these are required, why didn't Ford just build one into the system and make it part of regular maintenance to empty? Here are some high mileage/torture testes ecoboost F-150s that as far I know did not use catch cans...

Ford back with big blocks and pushrods!

I just saw my 1st "new" ranger on the road yesterday. Looks nice. It only comes with 1 motor. A 4 cyclinder twin turbo. I think it's rated to tow 7,500 lbs. Ford is all in with turbo motors, one would think they want and engineer them to last. MSRP: From $24,000 Towing capacity: 7,500...

    First oil change

That's true as the latest 3.5 TT has direct gas injection into the cylinder and fuel injected in a 2nd location to spray the back of the valves to "wash" the carbon off of them.

What the Inside of a Tortured Ford EcoBoost V-6 Looks Like

This article is from 2011. If it has already been posted, please delete. I read it for the 1st time and was impressed with the testing. I still would purchase the Ford Extended Warranty however, just because of the extra moving parts, sensors and cpus required for this engine...

    Short oil life?

I check my oil often. I've found the monitor to be accurate on my Expy. I have changed around 7,500 miles. The level was good and the color was going dark but not bad. I'm using Fords synthetic blend. I've found the oil monitor systems in a few of my vehicles to be good and I use it as a...

    Short oil life?

From pg 439 in our owner's manual. "Your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Oil-Life Monitor system, which displays a message in the information display at the proper oil change interval. This interval may be up to one year or 10000 miles (16000 kilometers)." pg 440 "If your...

Owned 08' till 250k, Drive 17' F-150 5.0 now, considering going to 17' used expo

2017 Expy XLT XL with close to 50,000 miles on it. During the winter I'm averaging 17.7mpg (by the dash display) mixed driving on 87 octane. I was averaging 18.9 this summer mostly on 87 ocatane with some 93 thrown in when towing. The 18.9 doesn't include towing which I averaged around 9 mpg.

Yeah that was the thread I was thinking of. Dang I didn't even know Ford used Iridium in the ecoboost motors to begin with. Makes sense.

Does the 302 Limited have 400hp or 375 for 2019?

It's at the 19:10 mark. Yep it's tuning not hardware. This is from the chief engineer. That was a good discussion video, I really enjoyed it. I wish they would bring in a veteran service mechanic that was an expert on the previous version of the Expeditions and explain what they did to...

    Fuel Economy?

Just a guess here. What percentage of ethanol in the gas? Ethanol has less energy per volume. The more ethanol the worse gas mileage you will get. Also have you checked your tires air pressure? My mileage has gone down this winter. Sure enough my tire pressure was down but not enough to...

    Gasoline smell after refueling

Do you fill up the tank more after the click? So many people try to squeeze more into the tank. You may have actually forced gas into the evap system. I didn't know until I watched this. Now once it clicks I'm done filling. Sorry for all the Scotty Kilmer posts in different topics. He can...

    Spark Plugs

Absolutely not disagreeing. Platinum plugs and if that's what ours are designed for use them and we can get 100,000 miles out of them. I only post this explanation of the differences because I didn't know. Plus not in the OP's case but in these high compression ecoboost motors, people who...

Can't go wrong with what the Engineer's designed the motor to use. I really like this guy for advice. I never thought about platinum vs iridium before.
