Your 17 has the .ecoboost engine vs the v8 in your 07. Two totally different drive trains. The 3.31 gears with the v8 will struggle much more than the same gears with the turbo motor, because the ecoboost has much more torque at much lower rpm. To tow adequately and comfortably with the 5.4 you...
The shorter change interval only applies to the ecoboost, and only reccomended by owners, not by Ford. Facts are facts though turbo direct injected motors (the 5.4 is neither) are harder on spark plugs. The gap widens faster and it will cause rough idle when cold and will throw codes for...
Spark plugs on a turbo motor must be replaced more frequently, most people reccomend every 30k miles, 50 at the latest. It is a common issue with the ecoboost, spark plugs are cheap and relatively easy to change on your own. No plug is good for 200k miles, anyone who believes that should not be...
Yes, remove the other nuts, even if they brake the studs at least the manifold will slip off of them, it is not threaded. Then you can use a stud extractor or weld a nut to the studs to remove them.
Yes, 3.73 are the lowest factory offered gears in the expedition. In 17 you could get a limited slip differential out back as well, it was standard with HD tow for 17 only.
Sounds like torque converter issues? If you can replicate it, do it for the dealer and let them figure it out you're still under the powertrain warranty.
My 17 doesn't have them in the middle seats, only on the outboard seats. How tall are the kids that will be sitting in the middle that this is a concern for? It will drastically reduce rear visibility which is why they are not there in the first place.
Don't bother with the radiator, the easy and cheaper add is the transmission cooler and it's also the most beneficial. You'd have to be working the truck pretty hard to notice a difference in engine radiators but a transmission can overheat rapidly without you knowing it (unless you have a Guage...
No, it will struggle with 3.31 gears. The 5.4 should have only been paired with th the 3.73 rear, it is a substantial and very noticeable difference especially when towing. Don't get me wrong, it will pull it, but you'll know it's there and have to run in 3rd or 4th on the Highway tops.
The ecoboost in the expedition is essentially the same as the one that's been in the F150 since 2011. I've not read about many issues with the turbos in the pickups but by the huge production numbers of this engine from 11 to 15 in the pickups and 15 to 17 in the expeditions, statistically...
Find a different dealer, it's easy to do, the plug is already in the dash behind the cubby where the controller goes. If you are handy, you can download forscan and apply for a free license and enable it in the software for free. Any decent dealer should know this and probably charge you 100...
The turbos are cooled by oil and coolant I believe. You could have overheated the turbo or blown an oil cooler line. Either way, the certified warranty will cover it, there should be no deductible if you have less than 60k miles, $100 bucks if you are over 60k. CPO covers the turbos water...
Have you checked the transfer case motor? With the key in the run position but the vehicle not started, stick your head under the truck while someone moves the 4x4 switch from 2wd to 4wd, you should hear the transfer case motor clunk as it engages. If not, there is your problem. It's usually...
Look for something with a dry weight rating between 5 and 6k pounds and you will be fine. That seems to be the sweet spot for a half ton based vehicle. You can then add 1k pounds of cargo and still be in the safe zone. Going by gross weight can be all over the chart since its based on whatever...
Stripped plastic gear on the he motor or seat track. Have to pull the seat out and inspect. Hopefully it's just the motor and you can snag one from the junk yard. The track is harder to replace in my experience on other vehicles.
Here is where the 20amp fuse is relocates to notice the larger size in the new location. This plagues all F150s and the expedition uses the same setup. It's more prevalent in the pickups cause there are many more of them on the road due to far higher production numbers. I'm not saying this is...
It happens ask F150 owners. Ford designed the fuse for the fuel pump to small it's the same amps as the relocation kit but is no longer a micro fuse. The amps heat up the smaller surface area fuse and melt the plastic around the contacts in the fuse panel. It won't necessarily blow the fuse but...
DRL is daytime running lights. If it's being sold by a Ford dealer with less than 50k miles, it's pretty much a guarantee they will certify it but if not, ask them to. I think it cost like 500 or 600 to cpo a vehicle, probably cost them less though.
Uh, the twin turbo DOES NOT run higher RPM. The big lump, as you call the V8, will run considerably higher rpm in All towing situations compared to the itty bitty V6. Recall that the twin turbo has 90% of its 400 pound feet torque available at 2k rpm. I have owned and towed with both power...
Not true, it starts as an intermittent issue with the vehicle stalling out. Look on the F150 forums and see this same issue driving people nuts, and it is becoming increasingly more common. It's a simple thing to check and repair or rule out. Just trying to offer some possible suggestions is all.
I bought mine with 33k miles as a fleet/lease vehicle as well. Mine came out of LA, and I'm nearly certain ALL 17s you will find from dealer only auctions (only available to ford dealers) will be fleet vehicles. Easy way to tell is if it has DRL since I believe that was a fleet only option...
Check the fuel pump fuse under the hood, I believe its fuse 27. There is a tsb for the fuse holder melting, and Ford offers a fuse relocation kit that takes a half hour to install, but it moves the fuse to a larger style and in a different spot in the panel under the hood. It can cause the...
That sounds like the beginnings of epas (electric power assisted steering) failure. Warranty should cover that, and inside the 60k mile warranty there should be no diagnostic fee if problem is found. The unit is not serviceable and must be replaced as a single unit and programmed by the dealer.
