My wife's Expy is an '18 XLT with Driver's Assist pkg. Prior to this vehicle we had another with adaptive and I didn't think we would like it, but we did. so much so that ACC was on my wife's "gotta have" list.
Got an '18 XLT here with 202a … ActiveX Leather front and 2nd row, but vinyl in third. No one who has ridden in the back row has commented on the different material, so I really don't think they noticed.
No mechanic here, just anecdotal experience....had an '06 Navigator with the 5.4 and it was doing something that sounds almost identical, even progressed to the point that at moderate to hard acceleration it threw a CEL. Ended up it was a bad Cat Coverter. Once replaced, ran perfect.
My wife's '18 XLT is just over 3k miles now and she is averaging 18.4. Her driving is probably over 90% in town with only an occasional highway run. She does drive very conservatively, but I am still quite happy with that kind of mileage considering the size, weight and power this vehicle has.
Keep your eyes and options open. My wife and I were looking hard for a slightly used '18 Max and kicked the tires on what seemed like every used model within 200 miles. On her "must have" list were some pretty impressive features (i.e. adaptive cruise etc...) all the used were in the low to...
Looked at a used '18 limited (reg length) with 32k miles ... booked out at 53.5k (according to bank) asking was 54k
Bought a Brand new '18 loaded Max XLT with 202a ... only real difference was stationary running boards and panoramic sunroof. Sticker was 67k - Paid 55k
Depreciation is a funny...
I too had a 5.4 before my 3.5 and liked it. The 5.4 was in a Navigator and it did everything I asked of it and did it well. Smooth and reliable. But my first drive with a 3.5 (in an AWD Linc MKS) got me hooked. I just smile more when driving my wife's Expy with the 3.5. I am one of those who...
Look inside the receiver hitch for wear...if it was used for occasional towing, there will be light wear, heavy wear will be obvious..freshly painted = concern.
Look at electrical connector - same visual cues but not as obvious sometimes.
Look for an added brake controller. Used to be any brake...
Just an FYI, I had a 2013 F150 with the 3.5 Ecoboost and I traded it in at 190,000 miles. Had a periodic misfire in cylinder 6 but otherwise was running strong.
Recently purchased an '18 Max XLT 4X4. My wife, who is very particular, searched for a long time before we stumbled across a Ruby Red Expedition that had everything she wanted. Traded in the dreaded minivan (that spent most of the winter gathering snow in the driveway) for her perfect 4WD...
Any kind of mileage rollback is highly illegal. I just purchased an '18 XLT two weeks ago that had 32 miles on the odometer. In checking over the vehicle, I don't doubt its accuracy.
a) we have not had any problems yet with the mirrors (nor anything else for that matter)
b) I have no idea when it was built (wife has expy at work at the moment) but I will check tonight.
'18 Max XLT Ruby Red 4wd with 202, connectivity, drivers assistance and cargo packages. MSRP was 67 and some change. purchased two weeks ago for 55.4 (American), was the best deal I could find within 200 miles and had everything the wife wanted (her vehicle). There are still plenty of 18's on...
18 Expy XLT 4x4 with only 1100 miles.
hand calc'ed after 500 mile road trip (country roads with slow downs/stops every ten miles or so for small towns) = 18.4 mpg
This is my third vehicle with the 3.5 EB and one thing I have learned:
the more you smile at the "boost" the less you will smile at...
