Well today I got a check engine light and checked it with a code a reader to find it is P0401. I have been searching the forum and doing some reading on this and it looks like the EGR sensor is most likely the culprit. What I am wondering is should I replace the EGR valve as well as the EGR...
I think I will just stick with the 89 grade that I have been using....I think that's what the manual calls for anyway. Mine will not do E85 so I wasn't even thinking about that. If the oxygen sensors being replaced doesn't fix this mileage thing I don't know what else to do.........Anymore input...
Well according to what the code said it was the Motorcraft sensor that was bad......it has been replaced with another one and I haven't seen the check engine light come back on yet.......but I am going to wait for a few days before returning the other one just to make sure.
I did have a guy...
Just ordered another motorcraft sensor and it should go in later today. I can't believe a new ones would cause problems like this but the guy working on it said he has had it happen where 2 different brands don't play nice together......I'll keep the group updated on what happens.
Now I am getting a check enigne light with code P0155.......any idea which one of the sensors it is.
This is what the code comes up as: 02 Sensor Heater Circuit Malfunction (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
Spark plugs are all changed and so are the 2 Oxygen sensors before the catalytic converters.............I suppose I should fill it up and see how it does now. If all goes right it will get the Seafoam in the brake booster treatment tomorrow........Thanks for all the input on this and any more...
Its not raised up or anything like that and the winter hasn't been that bad. Tires are fine too. Won't it kick a check engine light if an O2 sensor is going bad? How do you tell if a cat is going bad?
My 2000 XLT with a 5.4 and 119,000 miles seems to be getting really crappy mileage. I know the Expeditions are well known for this but burning nearly half a tank and only going about 110 miles seems a bit much! I keep up on the maintenance pretty well and it has a good air filter, just had tranny...
I thought the pictures showed and said to run it at 2000 rpm and pour it in slowly but I can't remember if it was the whole bottle or not? I think it also said after pouring it all in the booster line shut the truck off and let it set for about 15 minutes and then start it back up and thats when...
At one time I found several pictures and steps in how do the seafoam treatment through the brake booster....anyone remember where they are in the forums? I have been searching but haven't found them and don't remember what froum they were in for sure. I would like to do this to my 01 Expy with...
I have went through and read the posts about seafoam but I have a question about using it. Right now I have only been driving my Expy about 5 miles a day (across town and back) and it is getting close to oil change time. What I want to know is if I put the seafoam in the oil will it hurt...
Well I got lucky.....it didn't screw up the threads. They just put in another plug and it tightened right up! The mechanic said it must have backed itself out and he had never seen that before!
Well today I drove my truck and when I got home, ran in the house, and came back out to leave again and started the truck there was a loud boom and a puff of what apperaed to be white smoke or dust coming from the same area of the ticking noise. Now the truck is loud and runs horrible. I called...
I had my mechanic look at it today and he used a stethoscpoe to check it. He doesn't think it is exhaust but hes is not 100% sure. When I have the hood open you can hear it but it is not as nearly as well as sticking your head in the wheel well ( or beside it) and I can't barely hear it at all...
