    External fuel pump

My 2000 XLT 4.6 and my same year F150 4.6 are both still on the original pump. Not sure what average pump life span is, I guess depends on fuel quality and several other factors. Even if you could put together an external "kit" to replace the old in-tank pump I would think you'd still have to...

2000 XLT need to deal with roof

Okay, I did my research and pulled the trigger on my roof coating. I ordered a 2-part urethane product called Raptor. As with any paint coating job the devil is in the prep work. I pulled the roof rack off first and started sanding. No way I was going to sand thru all that rust, so I got it...

    Discount Tire

All is well now, tires came in a couple of days later and installed in about 30 minutes. The tires I replaced were a set of Bridgestone's....really good tires, but they were pretty long in the tooth(installed 2012).

    Discount Tire

I'm a little miffed right now because I set up an appointment last week for a set of tires on the 2000 Expedition. Most of what they offer in OEM size(255/70R16)are low or no stock, so paying up front a week prior to the install appointment seems a good way to insure they will order...

    00 crazy drivers window

I finally braved the heat last week and got into the driver's window issue. I had ordered a new window motor after checking the wiring and relay function. Definitely an easier job than the power lock actuator. The new motor solved my driver side issue. Now to figure out what's going on with...

    00 crazy drivers window

I'm hearing a click-click from a relay under the dash when I try the driver's side switch. Nothing when I try either of the passenger switches. Still haven't tested the window motor or the harnesses under the dash.

    00 crazy drivers window

It works just fine in cool weather( <80 degrees), but no go after ambient temperatures climb. I had to reglue the glass clips on this one last year...coincidence? Also, passenger side window quit working prior to driver side acting up....in any temperature. Jeff

rear end has a loping and feels like bearings but can not see any issues?

Parking brakes set will make the truck do some loping and shaking at highway speed. Don't ask how I know.

    Front suspension, rotors, brakes

A preventative on this truck, but my F150 of the same model started making the noises you describe well before 100k miles(the left side outer bearing came out in pieces). I guess I felt like the Expedition set were on borrowed time. Have to admit though the old sets I pulled off the Expy still...

    Front suspension, rotors, brakes

Bought it in '05 with 11k on the clock. Actually bought it for my daughter when she was in college to haul her big dog around. After a summer of putting gas in it she gave it back to me. It's never been a daily driver for me, but too useful to let it go.

    Front suspension, rotors, brakes

Got around to replacing ball joints, upper control arms, rotors, bearings, & pads this week. 163k on all parts except pads. I went with Moog for suspension parts, Raybestos rotors & pads, Timken bearings. As usual, I didn't think to take pics of the process, but here's the old parts laying in...

    Just hit 200k

I've looked at replacing both my 2000 Fords(F150 & Exp)with one new F150 or Silverado/GMC for the last couple of years. The fever always hits me right after new years. I start looking at the prices & reading the forums & it cures my fever every time. Then I start reading about the last...

2000 XLT need to deal with roof

Good point about the black & the TX heat. My pickup had a spray-on bedliner done when it was new(2000)which has held up well, but I do remember it was a urethane product. Pretty sure they sanded the bed before applying the urethane. Not sure what is available now.

2000 XLT need to deal with roof

The roof paint on my dark blue XLT is toast. All these years in the TX sun has turned it to a flaking mess. Rattlecan paint would probably last about 6 mos even if I put in the proper amount of prep labor, professional paint job is not in the budget. Have any of you experimented with bedliner...

Multi Issue - Car Dies On Slope/Gas Gauge/EVAP

Mine has always done the same when fuel is below 1/4 tank & parked on a downslope(like my driveway). Mine is a 2wd, so it sits nose down a bit anyway. Add the driveway slope & I assume it starves the tank funnel.

    O/H temp LED 2000 XLT

Tweezers indeed, no way I could have done it without them. Can't believe I originally posted this thread so long ago, but I just got around to fixing the dark display. Here's a couple of pics.... Both of the 510 resistors were lose on one end. It wasn't pretty, but I got them both...

Do you trust your first gen?

That's really low mileage for a first gen. My 2000 xlt has about the same. I can't speak to the 4x4 system since mine is 4x2, but if the previous owner didn't abuse the truck you should have many trouble free miles ahead of you. I've had mine since '05 with normal maintenance plus an...

Another thing that can be pretty noisy is if you have shock mount bolt holes that are wallowed out or worn shock bushings.
