I'm a little miffed right now because I set up an appointment last week for a set of tires on the 2000 Expedition. Most of what they offer in OEM size(255/70R16)are low or no stock, so paying up front a week prior to the install appointment seems a good way to insure they will order them....well, I would be wrong about that. I arrived at my appointment this morning. There were a handful of customers, but pretty slow compared to the usual at that store. Long story short they informed me the tires haven't arrived yet. Should be here tomorrow or the next day, reschedule when they arrive, etc.

I guess my reaction to this news made the kid feel like he needed to explain how this happened......"there were no tires to be found in my area(there are about 30 stores in this area), closest was around 80 miles away, so it was cheaper to order from California".....Well, I guess after I checked the stock in the half dozen stores near me last week when I paced the order(they had around 20-25 tires within 10 miles of me)there was a sudden run on 16" tires.

When you set up an online order by the time you're checked out they have your address, email, & phone #(not to mention your money)......how hard can it be to let me know ahead of time we need to reschedule? On top of that I hate being lied to. Why not just admit the screw-up?

After I got home while ago from the dry run I went to their website to tell them what I've just written above, but if there's a tab or link I didn't find it.....guess they're not really interested.....so you guys were the lucky ones to read my online whining.

I get mine from CARID.com & they ship to my home free. I then set up install appointment close by.

Sounds like you just might have a lazy local staff. I've dealt w Discount quite a few times in the past with little to no issues. I've had them order tires 4 or 5 times. Never a problem other than one coming in that was like 2 years older than the rest. I had that swapped out a couple days later as I couldn't wait for tires at that moment. They were fine about it and realized that shouldn't happen if inventory was rotated properly.

In my experience theyve been pretty accommodating price match wise. Obviously when it comes down to taxes there isn't wiggle room but often times they'll discount install or certificates to try and come close. I'll pay a couple bucks extra knowing someone can have job and if theres a problem I dont have to deal w an online vendor. Not tire specific but I've had 10x the amount of issues w online purchases compared to retail, even with my own employer... no one is immune to computer issues.

All is well now, tires came in a couple of days later and installed in about 30 minutes. The tires I replaced were a set of Bridgestone's....really good tires, but they were pretty long in the tooth(installed 2012).

i ordered and paid for a set of tires and wheels. got a firm delivery and install date. then a series of emails telling me they weren't in, but they'll be in the next day... this went on for about a week and a half of "next days" before I pulled the plug and got my money back. Even on the Saturday i went in for my refund, they were still telling me "they'll be in Monday". I wasn't falling for that again.

Got my last set of car tires from them. Ordered (little sucker has two different width tires front and back and are ultra high performance tires, too) them, they called and said they were in. Drove up to get them put on and was told only three tires arrived that morning. The two rears and one for the front. They called the next day and said they had the other front tire and when I got there they quickly got them on the rims, balanced and installed.

I figure I'll go back to them for the 435i next year, too.

Not sure when the Expedition will need tires but I'll certainly check with DT first.

There used to only be one in the area. Now I have three within about 6 or 8 miles of the house.

Discount Tire has a “Price Match” button on their website. If you send a link to the price you found, they will match it. I have done this several times, including last week. In fact, the MSRP was $290/tire; the price I found was $255/tire (plus shipping, tax, etc.); they matched it to $233/tire!
Piece of cake.

I personally like Discount Tire. For one reason they price match. I look on Tire Rack.com and find the tires I like the best. Then I print out the price page and bring it to Discount Tire. They always have matched the price. Second, they treat me well. I purchased snow tires from them for the Expedition. Every Spring they change my wheels from my Winter tires and rims to my Summer tires and rims. In the Fall, they change them back. They do this all for free! I even trust them with my Corvette's EXPENSIVE rims.
