Sounds like their is an air bubble in the system. I would say that what you are hear is the water flowing threw the heater core. The heater core is like a small radiator in the dash. I would also say that is were the air bubble is. Mine does that as well. I am not sure if their is a real way to...
Sorry.. a little forgetfull. Have we change out the plugs and coils.. all of them or a few.could be the fact of a random coil that may not have been replaced. Stupid coils.. this is why i changed all of mine out
Pull the air filter off and start it. Does it do it then or not.. if it does then their is something else. Is the vaccum line hooked up to proper locations...
This may sound odd... is it the right intake... it could be wrong one and not work right.
I would start with replacing the throttle positioning sensor. This should be located on the other end of the butterflies in the throttle body. One end is the throttle cable. the other side is the sensor.
If that don't work. I would go for plugs and coils.
Their is a reason why their is...
I put in some ACCEL coils. They have really turned my epy around. I get bout 14-15 mpg out of it with no other add on (stock air box, stock exhaust) I am able to pull my 82 FJ60 land cruiser off roader up hills with out any trouble. I can pull 70 without thinking bout it. Though my epy ( we call...
I have a 99 XLT with the "premium" sound system.. I have 4 5x7 door speakers (stock) I was wanting to install some rear speakers. I have the passenger side rear panel figured out. The driver side is still working on, but with the rear heat stuff their. Its being a pain in the rear. I am going...
I have the BIG O brand sport touring A/T's on my 99 XLT. They have served me wonderfully. I live in Utah were we get a good amount of snow, plus with moab that I have done with my ford. I have had nothing but traction. To drive the point home. I dont really know if the A4WD system works right. I...
So. I get 14 mpg with mine. Whats so good with mine. I have fit nine in mine so far.
All I have done with it is replaced all the coil packs with acell performance cop.
Ok. When it shutters. Does it do it before it downshifts. Lets say ur driving down the freeway. U want to pass a car. U step on the gas enough to downshift out of overdrive. The engine shutters for a bit. Then it down shifts..
I think this is from a boot on the one of the coils gone bad or a...
also make sure to test the fuses. They may look good but not make contact or work.
I would think that if the lights dont work and dont click or goes into anything. I would think the switch is not working. But with the A4wd not working. I would say that the actuator is not working.
Umm. Unless u have a solid locker (non electric,ARB, etc) If you put on a smaller/bigger tire then the rest. The axle will absorb (even with a LSD or LS) a short drive with a smaller tire (I would think no more then 100 miles) with out any damage.
All it would do is run the smaller tire...
I say if you are going to rebuild anything. Just rebuild the one you got if it's not cracked. If it's cracked. Find a remand or a crate motor. Hear in Utah we have American Engine Exchange. They have a great system. They will take your core and rebuild it. Then they resell it to the next person...
Change the fuel filter and the check the air filter. It could be clogged and not giving ample amount of air. I would also look into replacing plugs. I would also run a injector cleaner.
I would start with the leaking fluid. If it's oil, I would go to a compression test.
If it is water/antifreeze. Look for a leaking water hose or broken connector. If compression is good, and is a broken hose. I would go for coils and plugs. I would recommend replacing them all since u r not...
I would trace your speaker wires down. It could be that one may have been unhooked while replacing the heater core. I would also think to check fuses. Test them and not just look at them. I had a radio that did not work and I spent two months trying to get it to work and got down to testing the...
My 99 has the 9.75 with a factory ls rear axle. it works in all gears. 2w, 4wh, 4wl. Though, mine also has the A4WD in the 2wd spot.. It runs in two wheel drive in till the rear tires spins to much. Then the computer detects it and will engage the front drive axle for the added power. If it...
More often then not, it's the coil and not the plug. Unless u buy really cheep plugs (under $1.50, or them E3 things.) The plugs should last u a long time unless their is something else going on (oil burning, etc)
If u don't know which one. Buy just one coil and start on one side in front and...
Well. It's been my experience and research. A misfire causes the other parts to go out.
A misfire gives a bad gas/air mix. With more gas the cat(s)will get hotter then they should, with not enough air to cool them. Then cause the o2 to clog up or get hot.
Thought. Yes a bad o2 can cause a...
On my 99 factory radio with out dvd systems. I have a mobile dvd system, that I want to wire in the sound from the dvd into the radio..

The Wife wont let me go and spend the greens to go get a in car dvd system..
Hello. I just bought me a 99 4x4 XLT with 5.4l and love it.
Right now it is a stocker. The only upgrade it has is some accel coil packs.
Plans are as follows.
Edge cs evolution tuner with pod.
Cold are intake with non-oiled filter
Magnaflow cat back
Tranny mods
Then if needed. a...
I made the mistake of washing the dust off the engine when I first bought it. I ran coils/plugs with water in a few of them. So I went and bought all new plugs/coils. I bought accel coil packs. They were cheaper then factory and cheaper then O.E.M stuff. I used mastercraft plugs from Ford...
On Most of the K&N oiled air cleaners. The oil fouls up the system. My nabor has a 97 and tried one. He replaced all the intake parts and had the same problems. He took of the oiled filter and put on a non oiled filter. Never had the problem again.
