Wicked easy fix. spray WD 40 into your door latches and open and close the doors a few times. The switch for the light is attached to the latch and this trick will work 90% of the time. I do it as a preventative maintenance to both of my Fords
I like the looks of that. I work in a steel fabrication shop (facilities maintenance manager) I am going to see about making a plate like that to mount some lights out of stainless steel.
Does any one know of a place to get seat covers for my 97? It is an XLT with a 60/40 split bench in the front and rear. I have looked on Ebay and all I can find are solid benches and buckets.
I may be changing the interior to buckets in the future if I find a deal on in the future.
Thanks!
Exactly Freeway, It is not a cure all fix all for diagnosing electrical issues on vehicles, nothing beats a good DMM or diagnostic software for that, but it is a useful tool to have on hand.
I have one of these in each truck and they are the best for short money ($17.00 ish at Walmart) I noticed that the voltage was going down when my headlights were on. I checked the alternator and it was on its way out I changed it out and back to normal. Much better than finding out by having a...
That sounds like the culprit to me. I have gotten them from 1A Auto in Pepperell MA and have had good luck with them.

I will get one as soon as it stops raining. I have one of the ones on my SuperDuty not to sure if it is the same exact set up though.
You are correct, I would check the torx bolts first though, whereas it is a no cost fix.
Look under the dash you will see a plate with some torx head bolts in it that the shifter connects to. Tighten them up and your shifter will be much tighter as well, they tend to loosten up over time. I can try to get a pic of what you need to tighten up tomorrow if it is of help to you.
You are 100% correct. This is common throughout all the Ford family of trucks,
I installed a set of fogs on a XL F250 the switch pulled out but there were no contacts in there for the lights we added. I bought a new switch that had the contacts for the fogs and wired them in. One thing to...
I have to agree with the both of you, yes it should be a requirement that all engineers complete a hands on portion in order to obtain their degree. But will that really change the way things are built? No Because as Thermo said it all boils down to building them faster and cheaper, boost...
That I am not to sure of on these trucks. On my F350 it was held in by 3 bolts to the door. Make sure that you hold the window open with tape before you remove the motor though,
I believe that they are M8-1.25.
Chappy the problem with most engineers is that they don't have hands on real world experience everything looks good on paper. We on the other hand have the real world experience to see the hows and the whys to what works and what does not

I had that on my SuperDuty and it was because the window motor was starting to die. The silicone is a temp fix, you are reducing the resistance that is required to "push" the window up. I did the silicone for about a year before having to replace the window motor.
Exactly my thought process as to why to do it this way again. Cast cuts pretty easily too. I am hoping to get in there with a cutoff wheel as opposed to a sawzall too.
Stainless with some never seize on it will not corrode or oxidize so that is a huge plus if you need to ever remove them...
Years ago I was installing headers on a F250 with a 460 in it. I was having a tough time with the some of the bolts and scared to death that i was going to break some of them. They were very tight. I decided to cut the manifolds off the truck. Both sides "popped" when I was cutting them and...
Part of the problem may be from the ballast same as some of the issues that have been know to happen with HID lamps. The use of ferrite beads will absorb the RF that is generated by the ballast. I have bought them from All Electronics...
