When the transmission went out on my '01, I took it to a local shop. The guy specializes in Ford transmissions and said that the intermediate sprag gear (if I recall correctly), was the weak link on these units. He ended up replacing it with the compatible gear from an heavy-duty F-series.
Here are some photos of my transmission fill jug. I connect my air chuck to the black stem (a tire fill stem) and the long yellow hose goes into the trans fill hole.
Where are you clamping the front lines at?
Based on what I've read, it sounds like you have a problem at the caliper(s). I say this because you state that the pedal feels good when you clamp the front lines. At that point, you've virtually eliminated all of the other components as possible...
I eventually got sick of those hand pumps and the quart bottles. I ended up using a 4qt bottle of ATF modified with a tire valve up near the spout and a long rubber line pushed through the lid and running down to the bottom of the bottle. I place the other end of the rubber hose in the trans...
I agree with 07navi. The IWE system is frequently an issue with these vehicles, and the troubleshooting is easy and straightforward. With a simple hand-vacuum pump, you can test every component. Disconnect the line from the reservoir and check it. Does the vacuum reservoir hold "pressure"...
I had a similar clunk noise around 35mph, particularly if I gave it slightly more throttle than normal. It turned out that I had a vacuum leak in my IWE system, specifically in the rubber adapter sitting right in front of the first crossmember. I replaced it with a new one and my issue went...
Which plugs did you use? My '07 was sensitive to non-motorcraft plugs, and it likes the newer SP546 over the older SP515. I had a slight hesitation under light load and misfire (CEL flashing) under heavy load until I went with the SP546. I also noticed that my connectors for my COPs are...
When I first picked up my '07, the installed pads were terrible. I felt like I had to stand on the pedal to get it to stop in a reasonable distance. I quickly switched to EBC pads Yellowstuff pads, and the performance improvement was great. The biggest issue was the dusting, as the Yellowstuff...
I had a pull on my '07 last year after replacing the rotors and pads with EBC products. I also had a stuck caliper, which didn't fix the pulling issue. I eventually replaced the brake lines and the problem went away. Just my experience . . .
There are several cars with dual bulbs (low beam and high beam) that use the the high beams as DRLs with reduced voltage. The thinking is that the high beam bulbs are not used as often as the lows, so use the highs as DRLs at reduced output.
I ended up getting a used on from LMK for my '07 a few months ago. It has worked fine so far, although my wife says that it will rarely hiccup and feel like the brakes are soft. I haven't been able to confirm that the "new" ABS motor is at fault. I also used ForeScan to reprogram the As Built...
I see that you've already found your solution, but let me also recommend ForeScan and a PC. This is what I used to diagnose my misfire on my '07, plus it gav eme access to the As Built data when I replaced the ABS pump.
IWE vacuum lines. The little rubber coupler on mine was flattened on one side (rubbing against the crossmember??) and caused a slow vacuum leak to IWEs.
So it only happens in 2H (or you've only noticed it so far while in 2H)? While in 2H mode, the IWEs should have vacuum applied to them and the IWEs should be dis-engaged. When you accelerate firmly, you can sometimes drop your vacuum pressure. Usually, this isn't a problem because the...
You will love the ceramic tint for heat reduction. I’ve had it on all of my vehicles for the past 10 years and it makes a huge improvement. Lately, my night vision is slowly getting worse so I’m looking at getting the 80% “clear” ceramic tint. As much as I like the dark privacy glass, my eyes...
From 2008 to 2011, I was employed with Danaher Tool Group (later Apex Tool Group) in Gastonia, NC. This plant made Craftsman sockets. During my time there, we varied from 140 million to 210 million sockets produced each year. Granted, some of those were for other brands (Napa, KD, etc) but by...
I have an 07 Expy Limited EL. I used Forscan several times in the past week (and past few months) on this vehicle. I used it to see which DTCs were causing the ABS light to come on. I replaced the ABS pump, which required me to fix the "as-built" numbers, again using Forscan. My headlights were...
My '07 is heat only on the bottom and cool only out of the top. I found this out this weekend while doing multiple projects: I replaced the ABS pump, replaced the heater hose (the one for the front heater core from the front/top of the engine), replaced the rear blower fan, and replaced 8 spark...
My ABS light has been showing up occasionally for the past several months. After doing the power and ground testing on the cable as I found elsewhere on the internet, I've decided to throw a new (used) pump at it. I don't have the replacement pump in-hand just yet, but I believe that I can leave...
How much voltage is too much? My voltage measured across the battery terminals while my '07 is idling is between 16VCD and 17VDC. This is measured using a Fluke model 111 digital multimeter. If I check the battery in the morning after sitting all night, it reads a normal 11.5VDC (its an...
I had a leak at the crossover, and my crossover goes down as you describe (I have an '07). I could see some coolant puddling up under the intake manifold, between the heads. I don't recall which bolts I had to remove, but I ended up removing the crossover and the crossover gasket. The new gasket...
My 2007 has almost 260k miles on it and I have a problem with hesitation while under heavy throttle around 20-40MPH. It feels like a misfire. I picked up Forscan and their recommended USB OBDLink tool. I ran a Mode 6 test and I show zero misfires across all 8 cylinders. Plugs were changes at...
I'm a metal finishing engineer with 18 years of experience in the plating industry. If the knobs are plastic, then there is no good way to rechrome them. The cost to do so is cost-prohibitive. In most plating-on-plastic manufacturing sites, they simply trash the scrap because reworking them is...
Here is my Blackstone report on my 2007 with 253000 miles currently on it. I bought her with 211,000 miles in April 2016. At that time, shifting through the gears was jerky and slow to engage. Based upon the initial oil report, I feel that she still had the factory fill. I went through a series...
