06 2WD clunk noted at slower speeds. My wife was driving me to work the other day and my window was down. At quite slow speeds, a clunking is heard.

Can you tell where the clunk is coming from? Front of car (failed wheel bearings, track rod ends, steering rack, etc), from the middle (gearbox, transmission universal joint, etc) or the rear (failed CV joint, differential issue, failing wheel bearings, etc). Could it be warped disks and the...

    Fuel Injector Wire

As 2dollars says, the injector leads are NOT polarity sensitive, that is why the wires are the same color, it doesn’t matter which way round they are connected.. the injector is just a magnetic solenoid, it needs 12 volts to open and allow the fuel to pass. The ECU just varies how long the...

    "check brake systems"

My daughter’s ford edge, had the same issue, but hers did provide a code. It was due to the ABS module (pump and valves) failing, the unit was $1000 and $600 to change the unit, bleed the brakes and program the ECU with the new ABS serial number. Solved the issue, but cost a fortune, given the...

Help interior lights adding to the floor

If it’s anything like my expedition, all of the cigarette lighters are permanently live, I had to run wires up to the passenger footwell and connect to the fuse panel located there to have a switched 12volt.

Can I put 2008 wheels on my 2020 Expedtition?

But the 1.5mm and 2mm is the pitch of the thread, not a length, so the later models use a finer pitch, but same length, so the wheel nuts already on his car, should work perfectly with the old wheels.

Can I put 2008 wheels on my 2020 Expedtition?

Wouldn’t he just reuse he’s existing lug nuts? He just seems to want a set of winter and summer wheels, so he can easily swap between them? He already has the wheel nuts for he’s 2020 (holding he’s summer wheels on), so it sounds like the other wheels would fit fine.

Who has the Most Miles 2007 EL Expedition

I have an 08 with 235,000 miles on the clock, had very few issues with it, changed all the transmission fluids (including differentials and transfer box) every 70,000 miles new shocks at 160,000 miles and new disk brakes on all 4 wheels at 180k miles. I hope it will make 350k miles, it’s as...

    Not Funny, But Probably Useful

Found On Roadside Dead I have had fords for the last 40 years and very few have had issues, but as the newer models get more complicated (particularly the electronics) I have real doubts about buying another ford.

Question on wheels going from 18's to 20's

I have an earlier expedition and I fitted 20” F150 wheels, the only issue I had is that on the rear wheels (both sides) the half shafts are a bit longer on the expedition so the threaded end of the half shafts sticks out a bit further and it fouled with the plastic cap that goes in the middle of...

    Rear door rubber sealing trim

The rubber sealing trim that is mounted to the rear of my car and seals against the rear door/liftgate when it is lowered down and closed has started to split and fall apart, when I try looking for the ford part, everywhere wants almost $100 for the rubber trim. This seems very expensive to me...

    HISSING NOISE IN BRAKE PEDALS

My daughters Edge had the same hissing noise, it was the brake booster, bad news it cost $1000 to have it replaced by ford, I am too lazy to do it myself!! The part was about $800 and $300 for labor!! Not cheap, but the brakes now work very well!!

    LED Conversion Questions

If you can, be sure to mount the resistors somewhere that will help take away the heat. They are intended to only waste power when the indicator bulb is on (which is not often), but on the expedition the indicator and brake lights are the same bulb, so the resistors are dissipating heat when...

    LED Conversion Questions

It’s only the indicator bulbs that need the load resistor, the brake lights are the same bulb so the single load resistor works for brakes and indicators. The 3rd brake lights isn’t sensed so it can be converted to LED and no load resistor is required. Also the tail lights can be converted to...

Looking to find quality aftermarket mirror assembly for my 2007 Expedition limited. Any suggestions?

the few aftermarket mirrors I tried were crap, very flimsy and poorly assembled, I have always ended up going back to genuine ford parts (either new or used). I would look for used genuine ford mirrors on eBay.

    Cai and led headlight bulbs

I switched to LED bulbs many years ago (08 expedition) and have never looked back, I adjusted them by parking my car 50 feet from my garage door, measured the height of the center of the headlights from the ground, put a mark at that same height on my garage doors and adjusted the lights so that...

Pre wired Plug for trailer brake controller

I don’t know what that plug is for, but I can tell you it’s NOT the electronic brake controller plug/wire.. The electronic brake lead has a large power and ground lead, a large grade wire that goes to the trailer plug and a thinner brake activation lead. Mine is an 08 so I doubt your will be...

    My 2011 Expedition EL Limited

Sounds like my expedition, I bought it new in 2008, it now has just over 250k miles, always had oil and filter changes (Mobil 1) every 4000 miles, transmission, transfer and diff oil changed every 70k miles (with spark plugs) and it still runs beautifully. Only failures have been a starter...

Hello - Need Troubleshooting Ideas for Problem with my Expedition

From your description, it sounds like the spark plug has blown out. The question is did it come out and bring the thread with it (you will need a helicoil fitting, or did it just work loose and thread out? You need to ask your mechanic. A new thread can be fitted with the head in place (it’s not...
