    2021 XLT FX4 Halogens - Help!

Several people are running LEDs in the Halogen housing, without issues. The only slight annoyance is an occasional fliker every so often, which is tolerable but can be eliminated using Forscan (have not done it myself, yet)...

Need your advice for a better ride than my Explorers

If you aren’t towing, you obviously don’t need the tow package - however, it will increase the resale value, as and when that time comes. If you aren’t going up north seeing a lot of snow, the 4A does pretty well, depending on tires (I have the OEM Hankook, and they are barely ok, but am looking...

Anyone using wireless charging? Anyone relocate?

I use it only when I have to. I’m thinking of getting a magnetic dash/vent mount with charging (iPhone). Personally, I think relocation is more trouble than it’s worth.

    Tires (22")

Huh. There’s no reason you should’ve got stuck there. As you’ve deduced, the tires are just not up to the task. I watched the Tire Rack reviews which included the continental tires: while they came in last (out of 4) in the snow section, it wasn’t a tragedy by any means, and appeared capable...

How many owners out there with no major issues?

No issues at only ~21k miles. Low miles, of course, so take it with a grain of salt.

    High beam indicator

For many years, blue high beam was the only blue light in a vehicle dash. Now, blue is the trendy color (my ambient lighting is blue, but at the lowest setting). So I can see how it could blend in. However, it doesn’t appear to dim when the instrument cluster is dimmed.

Let's See Those Lifted / Big Tire Gen 4s!!

Won’t the 305 contact the upper control arm on the OEM wheels? I have the 20” and will be sticking with the OEM, but it looks/feels like 285 may be max width (depending on tire). I have 5mm spacers already, so could probably go 295. Iow, you’ll need more offset to get the 305 tire, which a new...

    2019 Exp Max vs Suburban

Are you sure it’s only $3k for a new transmission? Seems low, but if that’s the case, that’s a good deal (plus installation, of course). Maintenance costs can’t be ignored - even under warranty - so reasonably priced parts is a bonus. As you said, things break, even in the most reliable of...

    2019 Exp Max vs Suburban

I like the Suburban and traded a 2009 for a 2019 Expedition. I was in the ‘trucks need a V8’ camp, but driving past a Ford dealership, nothing better to do that day, decided to test drive one. The engine felt great. Comfortable, heated seats and wheel (of course, you can get those in the...

    Bad tires, or bad luck?

Tires and windshields: all down to luck, and not the materials, I think. I’ve had vehicles where the only tire issues is they wear out and need replacing after 50k. Others, it is several replacements in a year due to various road damage events.

Replacing rear bumper trim panel - anyone had to?

I have removed that panel a couple of times but not replaced it. Yes, gravel and dirt seems to get up inside/behind. It's not too difficult to remove. I'm going to wrap mine in some satin dark grey.

Negative Offset Wheels DO Fit Without Modifications

No kidding on the mud ! For some reason, it looks like it is calling out for some fender flares - or, specifically, the line above the wheel arches makes it look like some fender flares are missing. Maybe the combination of wheels, color and mud.

Changed out halogen for LED today

Thanks for this update. I'll go ahead and do this once I can get my hands on a Windows laptop.

Does anyone else really hate the OEM tires?

There are. Korean and US made. The US ones have the snowpeak rating. I have the cheaper Korean ones as OEM (I think the US ones are currently cheaper, and a better buy, due to possibly supply chain). I'd call them acceptable, but there are much better tires at the same price. If you haven't...

When you should have bought a max

If you need a big SUV because you think you need the room (kids, pets, travelling) then you need the MAX. I almost fell into that trap when buying my first full size SUV many moons ago. Granted, don't 'need' it every day, but not having to worry about it when you do: priceless.

Changed out halogen for LED today

I notice this same flicker intermittently. It seems a bit distracting, so if you have the code to eliminate it, please post back either way.

Negative Offset Wheels DO Fit Without Modifications

It looks like the first two pic have the rear OEM wheels, and the last has the new ones on the rear.

Time for a 2022 after someone totaled our 2020

Would ‘replacement value’ also cover some obnoxious markups on vehicles that dealers are posting? (Anecdotal, so may not be prevalent).

Bilsteins and Alignment, Wow! 2018 Expy

What “level” on the bilsteins gives you 0.5” front and level in rear? Bottom detent on rear and first detent on front? Does it look flat, now, without the rake?

    High beam indicator

I leave the lights in auto - they will dim when it sees headlights. Regardless, not seen an issue with noticing the blue beam indicator. I also have spots and a-pillar lights, so am not going to 'forget' when the front of the vehicle is lit up like a supernova.

    Field service 21N03

I have just received the letter. I have no engine issues, but read the same thing. I’m at 20k. Setting up and doing the old warranty thing is a pain from a logistical standpoint, especially when nothing is actually broken (maybe I just don’t know it, yet?) the deadline to get it done is feb 2022.

Would you buy this '18 Limited Max?

I would tend to agree. However, it seems that prices are not ‘normal’ at the moment and are overinflated, so don’t know what a good price is.

    2022 Expy announced

The screen needs to be designed by an observant ergonomics engineer who understands human nature, and not some 20something ‘senior programmer’ who thinks he’s hot s***. Bad screen design is torture to users. One reason I like the more manual heater controls. Very few cars get climate control...

    Aftermarket? What aftermarket.

Maybe an SUV that can cost up to 3 figures has pretty much everything anyone could want on an SUV? If you are spending that amount of money, maybe you can afford another 20k on bolt on goodies? And what is the average purchaser going to do to really justify said goodies? most people here are a...
