Roof rack cross bars - torx bit

I'm a bit disappointed with the 'fixed' locations of the crossbars, also. The torx bit that I got was actually one of those cheap disposable bent bits of metal with a torx on each end. It works fine, but easy to loose - might be buried in the recesses of the center console or either glove box...

Exhaust sound... how to slightly improve?

A turbo V6 is not really known for its badass exhaust note. V8, particularly the gut ripping GT40 exhaust, is where the sound is.

Help Lost key fob while driving

I would concur with the other posters: the double honk means the key left the vehicle while it was running. If it says key not detected, then the key is not in the vehicle. (I did some tests with the key in various locations of the vehicle, including under the seat, and it started just fine).

    Lane Keeping System

I don’t think it is as good as it could be, having another vehicle with lane assist which works much better. sometimes, it will let you drift to the point that it will cross the line without correction. Not always, though. I also have it, occasionally, make it very difficult to turn the wheel...

    Cleaning tips

Water spots on glass you can use Bar Keepers Friend. Best solution to waterspots is to not let it happen in the first place. I'm not a fanatic, but I use a wax-n-dry: spray it on while the panel is still wet and wipe off with a microfiber cloth. Use plenty of clean microfiber cloths while...

I finished installing warn VR 12-S winch on Expedition 20

I have a pusher bar on mine. If I stand on it (ahem, a bit more than 200lbs) I can get the suspension to move maybe 1/4 inch if I jump on it (it is a bit cold this morning, so the suspension juice hasn’t warmed up).

    Help me choose one

White is too bright, I think. I'd go with either total blackout or a very dark gray. So, did each of the grille pieces come apart easily?

    Grille Removal Step by step

One think I did when removing the bumper cover is make sure there's cardboard around to lay it on - it's pretty wibbly wobbly and you don't want it to flex and accidentally scratch the paint on concrete. It's not absolutely necessary, but doing it the first time, you don't want it to...

Alla Lighting for 2019 Expy XLT

I have Alla fogs, but Hikari low beams. Both are very good and bright. I’m thinking of changing to Alla switchback bulbs for the turn signals.

What is the purpose of the flip-up tailgate window?

Personally, never used it in maybe 20 years (well, maybe once when hauling some 10’ lumber). but, you know it’s there if you need it!

Pics of Black Wheels and/or Chrome Delete

Huh. Did the shops say why? It looks like a relatively simple job. The rubber trim looks a bit fiddly, to make sure you don’t get a body colored line, but not too bad. If it doesn’t hold up, just take it off, and put a new one on in a couple of years.

    New Owner Recommendations

I think this is the nature of the beast. The vertical back end creates a vortex of air which slowly drags in the surrounding dust and dirt, shoving it into all the nooks and crannies.

    MPG and drive modes

I get better mpg in eco and a lot less in sport. Simply because of the reason those modes are selected. It changes the ‘go’ pedal mapping so pushing the gas in sport mode is going to have a bigger throttle input than in eco. you will get better mileage driving 55 than 70. As noted, at highway...

    Lower Valance

It is not a direct fit. I got a 2019 skid plate of eBay - don’t know the part number -front mounting brackets and fabricated two rear brackets. It slides up and under the front valance after trimming the tabs for the air dam mount.

    Lower Valance

I didn't wade through the pointless argument about it's worth, so may have missed it, but the manual talks about removing the air dam while offroading, and putting it back after you are done. I removed mine, and it does remove some of the visual rake (it also needs to be gone to add the raptor...

Oil Level Gauge on 2019 Expy

naturally aspirated engines shouldn’t be an issue unless there is a serious problem with the engine. turbos can be a different story: for some reason, some turbos like to ‘consume‘ oil ; catch cans catch most of it before It’s fed back into the turbos and intake. Some don’t use any at all...

    Bilstein 5100 Lift Install

From the manual/install instructions, the front does appear to give 1.6" on the highest setting (I'm not sure anyone here has put a tape measure on it, as a lot have gone with the F150 fronts, and/or different tires/rims). The readilift only looks good with larger tires, though. If you are...
