A note on my Ford Pass

Exactly what it says. This will likely get you emails from a dealer selling you things, as well as sending all your vehicle usage info and stats to said dealer, via Ford. This establishes a ‘business relationship’ between you and the dealer, justifying what we would consider junk mail. At its...

Is this sound waste gate rattle?

I have a similar sound. It does not come from the engine bay, but more under the car - sounds like an heat shield knocking - and can go on for a minute or less. Only when starting from cold, and at low idle. In this colder weather, typically will not hear it, as the engine starts at a high idle...

    Sudden battery death?

I have a 2019, and while the battery seems fine (had zero issues) as noted by the OP, it simply ‘stopped working’. So how is a battery pairing performed?

Options for pax side 12v cigarette outlet?

Same. The 12v outlet just sitting there is kind of an awkward position. A gimbaled magnetic charger sitting relatively flush would be an ideal option.

Post pics of your 285/60/20 tire setup on stock height

Just to add, if you change the wheels to a different width and offset, that adds another variable, it’s not just about the tire size. I think +20 adds more poke (or just aligns with the wheel well, I can never remember), which is often a desirable trait. I personally don’t see that size as...

Post pics of your 285/60/20 tire setup on stock height

I was thinking about going to a 285/60 but instead went for 275/60 from 275/55 on the 20” rims. I felt the 285 width, while looking good, might be more of a hinderance than help, with maybe rubbing. I know this doesn’t give you the picture you are looking for.

    2022 RWD in Snow/Winter Weather

Tires. They are the only things making you go or stop. Good quality all season or 3peak/winter tires will really help.

    Front Valence

If/when you remove it (it is a combination of clips and screws if I recall, might be wrong, but it isn’t hard at all)…don’t be looking straight up at it. There’s a lot of grit and dirt that gets trapped, and gravity being gravity, send it directly into your eyes!

Getting very poor MPG on my 2019 Ford Expedition XLT

That’s not unusual. A few miles at 11mpg is not a measure of the vehicles overall fuel consumption. I get that (and less) around town, but have averaged 17.1mpg over the past 4500 miles. Steady interstate it is over 20mpg. These are my numbers and are on par with what everyone else has said...

Rear brakes - go from good to terrible in 5k miles?

I just replaced the front pads and rotors (vibration) and they were at around 1/2 depth after 53k miles. Replaced the rears at 50k. The rears were almost all gone on the inside pads. Outsides looked like there’s a few thousand miles left, but I’d flag them as ‘attention required’. A visual...

Ford Pass App - New Version

Late to this party as I only use the fordpass app for adding services and an occasional remote start in winter. I'm on version 5.6.0. I cannot add a service, and the web on a desktop will not login. What a load of crap! The locked/unlocked status still doesn't show, either. So, in the app...

    24 Inch Wiper Blades?

I've never thought to run longer blades, but I also use the Bosch ones. I'm at nearly 3 years on this set (Nov '21 purchased them) and now they are starting to show some wear. This makes up for the extra cost.

    Heated steering wheel question

Maybe a stupid thing, but is the air vent blowing down onto it there?

    Battery died

It's a crap shoot with batteries. I'm coming up on 5 years on mine. The truck was sitting for over 4 weeks and it started right up, and no indication of any battery issues.

    I figured it out!

There is using Forscan to program it out: not a simple option, requiring a computer, the software and a OBD2 device.

Bad Radiator Cap? / Coolant Disappears

that's where I would lean. Cold, things are tight. Under pressure, and depending on the thermostat position, things are a bit loosey-goosey.

Bad Radiator Cap? / Coolant Disappears

I have condensation in my expansion tank, but no leakage or loss of fluid. It’s also impossible to take the cap off when cold. It needs to be a hot engine to allow the cap to come off without risking breaking it. Don’t know why. If you suspect the cap, just get on their cap.

    Grille Guard on ‘22 Expy

I tie wrapped the sensor out of the way, and don’t use it. Had to disable it in forscan after a few months as cruise control stopped working. I still get a message that the front sensor is blocked, but hit ok and everything works as normal (except the radar, of course). I’ve been meaning to...

That is correct (or rather, that’s what I found and read). Have had them on for a couple of years with no issues.

    2022 Expedition XLT 13.5 mpg

A change in tires (55 profile to 60, plus a different more aggressive compound) decreased my mileage from about 18 to 16.5 or so. But this is all road dependent. On long straight interstate at around 75, it’s around 22. Acceleration really kills the average, though. Lowering the speed, as...

    Tailgate kick release

That’s what I was told and that made it the most consistent. Unfortunately because it also registered unintentional movement, when playing around the hitch area, I disabled it by removing the antenna. Since it’s just a button push to open, I’ve not really missed it. What you really miss...

    "Carbon buildup on fuel injectors"

I would still like to know how they came up with that diagnosis - I can't believe it's such a short job to remove an injector for inspection that it would not be billable hours. Indeed, I'm sure they would have to record the time, somewhere, that they did such a thing.

    303 Graphene Nano Spray Coating

I agree. And a lot easier to apply. I have a flat can of actual turtle wax that has not been used in probably over a decade, having been supplanted by the spray on wax, and now the ceramics.

110k km and no brake replacement

Just replaced my rears at 50k miles. Almost gone, small amount of friction material. The discs show slightly higher than normal corrosion and irregular wear on the inner sides. Replaced discs and pads for $250 (Powerstop). I have a slight vibration while braking from the front, but the pads...
