I would think you have a failed rear height level switch. It could be the solenoids for the rear bags, but both failing at the same time is rather unlikely. Each air bag has it's own solenoid so the compressor can run all day and none of the bags should over inflate.

I have wired up many solenoids in the past for lights, winches etc... In every case I used 4 wires. I'm sure you can use all 5, I just haven't had a need. The factory relay has 5 pins, but best I can tell from the electrical diagrams only 4 are used.

I have not run an external relay on mine. I will if it fails again, I believe 87a is not needed, it only needs to be 4 wires. Power in, power out, ground and switched power in.

The cluster is basically another computer module and as such is likely to require programming. At the very least for the other modules to accept it. This is just based on my experience with OBDII scanning on my 2004 and reading stuff here. So I may be incorrect.

I was gonna suggest a failure of the dang PATS, but apparently not. Do you have a 2nd key to verify it's the key? A strong magnet might be able to cause the chip to fail. I'm certainly interested to hear what others say on that.
Several of us compared the transmission ID tag recently and identified that our 2004 models had the 4R75 which certainly surprised me. My tag is 4L1P-DA. Anyway this list of model numbers might help if there's any question on the trans identification.
Do you have an OBDII scanner or ForScan to read the transmission codes from the PCM and to watch what the transmission is doing? Just a cheap code reader is not gonna do it for this.
On my 2004 the TCM is the transfer case module.
I'd start by tracing the wire from the trailer connector to fuse 42 in the CJB. Sounds like the problem is that wire and my guess is where the wires are under the truck.
