    That would be bad. But the exhaust is rearward of the tire, so would not explain losing control and would not expect huge volume of water to get past the catalytic convertor. Then again the engine could have locked up the wheels and the system steamed out all it could.

    Sounds like the "smoke" was the rear heater hose blowing steam and that the hot wet tire spun you out. Weird, but maybe no engine problem if that is the case. Scary though. What year and mileage?

    You could switch injectors between two cylinders. Buy a few new O rings before you do so. If that does not change the code, try swapping coil packs.
