    Letter to My Dealer

There is no excuse for a warranty transmission to take more than a few days to procure. I have to wonder if the AZ dealer was sandbagging it to press you into a trade in. In 1995 my 1993 E350 15 passenger extended van experienced a blowout of the drivers rear tempered glass when I was traveling...

    Letter to My Dealer

Much as I am not crazy for unions, the assembling of a vehicle today is far more complex than your car from the 1970's. Do you want the guy from the McDonalds grill installing the airbag wiring in your Expy? I don't think the huge price tag of these vehicles stems from the few hours spent...

2001 Expedition degrading wiper speed control

You may have to replace at least one, perhaps both relays to fully determine if this is the problem. It has made me consider taking a second look at my 1st gen's rear wiper system. I pulled the relays because it wasn't parking at all and was draining the battery.

2001 Expedition degrading wiper speed control

If it is designed like Chrysler, and the symptoms are indeed similar, the motor gets braking action by shorting the motor winding to ground through the normally closed contacts of one of the relays. The problem is that relay contacts get cleaned from the arcing action of the load current. Using...

    Aftermarket Upgrades for 3rd Gen

On my Gen 1 I stipulated that all the front suspension and steering rack be replaced with Moog with Zerk fittings. They were unable to replace the upper control arms with them for some reason (COVID?) . But yes definitely do this because the "lifetime" of the OEM tie rod ends is like only 15 K...

    Crazy Electrical Issues/Parasitic Drains

Definitely check your windshield seal. My 2001 windshield was entirely unbonded on the drivers side. I was prepping it to sell, had the plastic wiper cowling out to paint it and somehow in that process, the glass just entirely cracked. It could have been when I slammed the rear hatch, or a door...

Is this a valid concern/pet peeve?

I had a nice E350 van. My boss was a huge person. Also had some really huge oversized coffee jug. I had to give him a ride one day, and he kept trying over and over to shove that huge cup into the side pocket of the door, the plastic would spit it back out. On his fifth attempt, the plastic...

Urgent Help Needed – 2025 Expedition Max Shark Fin Antenna Hit 6.6 ft Clearance Bar

Those signs are pretty inaccurate, especially if the pavement is not perfectly flat for the length of the vehicle wheelbase. Your front or rear tires may be a couple inches raised.

Is this a valid concern/pet peeve?

Just tell them to use the handle or they will slip on the door and running board you have generously polished with Armor All.

Circle patch roof of my expedition !?

Dental Floss is also an excellent tool to slide under.

Circle patch roof of my expedition !?

I am in the radio biz. There are never ending questions from folks (usually ham radio dweebs) wanting to put antennas on their roofs with a magnet mount or other horrid contraption. The professional way is to drill a hole for an brass NMO mount (Motorola) as it seals nicely, works on aluminum...

    Exploding air bag module

Most definitely alert the NHTSA. This could have caused an accident or fatality.

    Exploding air bag module

That is frightening. Please followup with a post mortem. I would agree it looks more like an evap core failure. Has the system been recharged? If someone used R600 (Isobutane) or other flammable or counterfeit refrigerant, a small leak may have resulted in a small explosion in the confined area...

Do you have a picture of where the line rubs?

2013 won't start in park or neutral

Do you have more than 1 ignition key on the ring? Sometimes PATS gets fooled if you have multiple keys hear the ignition lock.

2013 won't start in park or neutral

I think you have to press the brake pedal to crank, regardless of park and neutral. Maybe your brake switch is bad? There are two or more brake switches that measure the brake fluid pressure as well as pedal depressed. Are your brake lights working properly? If you spent $1000 at a dealership...

Annoying Message Center and warning lights: SERVICE ADVANCE TRACK and CHECK BRAKES

Well; the service brakes/advancetrack etc.. light show is back. I have been distracted with medical issues and have not checked the wiring as planned. I did read the schematics and have a good idea where all the connectors are located, so will open them up and De-Oxit all the connections. I did...

    Plastic (cracked) Valve Covers…Really Ford?

Dealers everywhere, regardless of make, will puff up out of warranty repairs needed when doing recalls. Are you leaking any significant oil? Any oil smoking on the exhaust manifolds? Does the recall require them to open the valve covers?

2011 No ABS or Advance Trac Warnings - FRONT Brakes Sticking...Wazzup???

Wow, I am going to have to climb under and check that out. My check brakes/service advancetrack lightshow is back on again.

    Condensation from catalytic converter?

The ECU goes from open loop to closed loop within 4 minutes so I would suspect that is enough time to get the catalyst up to temperature.

The Great air filter debate - my findings & observations

The fuel trim is a value that you have to scan for in the Mode 6 OBD2. It has short and long term values. I was watching "the Wizard" on Tik Tok and he had a customers car, Toyota I think, new engine running great, no codes, but the Check Engine light would not go off. Turns out he had a K&N...

2011 No ABS or Advance Trac Warnings - FRONT Brakes Sticking...Wazzup???

I wonder if my lines (2013) are bad as well. I had to replace all of them on my 2001 at 85K as the rear wheel was dragging. I am getting a light show, check brakes, service advancetrack etc from time to time . I do check caliper heat but it is hard to tell.

The Great air filter debate - my findings & observations

I would love to see that increase in MPG. My original truck was a 1993 E350 15 passenger van and the 13 MPG was making me sad. I bought a smaller, lighter 2001 EXPY and then still got 13 MPG. Then the adulturated gasohol scam cost me a mile or two. My flex fuel 2013 does not do any better. I...

Mileage indicator not showing up in dash

I watched a youtube video. Had it done in just an hour or two after years of procrastination. You never lose the accrued mileage, it is just poor solder on some pins that power the VFD tube. The hardest part is the PRNDL indicator. Carefully separate that from the bottom of cluster and remember...
