It is definitely a pain in the butt to put the phone in and get it out. Just like the Synch4 system, I'm guessing nobody at Ford ever tried using it while driving.
We tow a 34’travel trailer with ours. It is well within the vehicles towing and GVWR ratings and it tows it fine. While I would love to have extendable mirrors I can understand them not seeing enough demand for them on an expedition.
Im so sick of 4A that I hate the thought of buying another Ford even though we like the vehicle a lot otherwise.
We got an update yesterday but I have not driven it yet since. Will be interesting to see if the sound system still comes on even though it was off when we last shut the vehicle...
It’s better, but I take issue with how much better. There are still too many things that are a pain in the butt to use while driving down the road.
There is a lot to like about the Expedition overall, but the touchscreen is bad enough that i will not just automatically buy one again. And I...
Ford is really bad at technology. Its bad enough that as much as I like many aspects of our Expedition, its going to make me look hard at something else next time.
August 15 2024 I got this update. It says I should see changes on my screen. I see nothing different. Anyone else seeing anything new?
BTW, its not the first time Ive gotten an update that said i should see changes but did not.
I have not messed with it for a while, but when I was setting up my trailer last hear it said the BSM would only work on 33’ (I think) trailer. Ours is 34. So I just changed the setting to 32. But I will say I am getting the message again. Setting up a trailer seems to have a lot of glitches.
I tow a travel trailer with a 6800# dry weight. It pulls it very well. But you are over the limit on tongue weight and no doubt over on actual weight when loaded up.
I would go with a F150 with the 13,000 lb trailer rating if I were you. I have a friend who tows with an F150 set up like that...
Amen. Having had the 15” Sync 4a for over a year now, I would have paid $1,000 extra to get a Platinum with the smaller 12” screen and buttons if it had been an available option.
EDIT. In my first post I accidentally said i would pay extra for the 15” screen. I meant just the opposite
We get 18.5 around town and easily get 22 on the freeway even at 70-75mph. My experience on many vehicles is that what you lose going up mountains you get back coming down. But as others have said, lots of variables, but you know that.
No tire pressure, fuel level, or time till next service. Those are the only things I cared about and they are all gone! The reasons I like them is that it is my wife's driver. I like keeping up with things I take care of on the vehicle.
Ford technology sucks. How do you go backwards that...
The differences in O.D. that some of y'all are talking about is no bigger differences than the tire gets as the tread wears down.
And I’d like to see what the “sidewall looks shaved down” means and how it happened.
I got 5.1.1 last night as well. It looks like another “this one is to open the door for the next one”. It does say the next one will be “exciting”. Maybe it a “tune” to get us to 500hp. Now THAT would be exciting.
For me the difference was not all that much because i wanted most of the features that are included in the Platinum package. The interior is also quite a bit more upscale to my eyes if you don't get black.
But if those things are not important to you it sounds like you have answered the...
UPDATE: My wife texted me a picture. We do have the new features. About time. Welcome to last year!!!
UPDATE: I did get what i have been waiting seven months for. The interface is much better, but i would like more changes that would be easy, but will save that for another day.
Only...
okay, my app shows 4.2.2.2 this morning. Unfortunately i had to leave very early and am not in the Expedition. Maybe my wife will see changes. BTW, im also at week 51 of owning it.
You should call Ford Customer Service and complain. I have called them three times in the past seven months. They have always answered the phone within a few minutes and are very professioanal. The more complaints they get the better.
800-392-3673
So this is about how bizarre my luck is going. When I got up this morning, both my app, and the vehicle itself showed the 4.2.2.2 update, and then it disappeared just as quickly as it appeared.
I did call Ford Customer Service today. His answer to some degree was nonsensical. I read him what my screen said about the update and that i should be seeing many changes on the screen. He said it was probably an update that had already been done to the vehicle before it was built or some such...
