2010 Expy Horror Story - Content warning not for the squeamish

I live in the SF Bay, so we don't get any snow here (but we drive into the Sierras during winter a few times a year), but we have a 2006 Honda Pilot and a 2005 Lexus LS430, and it looks no where close to what you have. That is surprising.

laminated glass stopped a break in...

Our family's been here a tiny bit over 2 decades since we immigrated from China. Yeah, it used to be better. Now I don't even dare head into SF unless absolutely necessary. It's not even that safe on the edge of the bay area now where I live. If it wasn't for work we would have moved away long...

laminated glass stopped a break in...

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I found a PDF from AAA listing many different models of vehicles and where laminated glasses is used. It seems to only go up to 2019 though, but looking at the pattern, it would seem the Ford Expeditions has laminated glass on all 4 doors (from 2018-2019...

120V AC outlet won't charge laptop

Maybe if enough people complain and keep getting it swapped out under warranty, Ford will get the message and redesign a new one that would actually work for 100% of the stated capacity instead of one that stops working at 50% load.

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

While I don't completely disagree, some sort of automation would be handy on long road trips, traffic (which is a huge headache in the SF Bay), or driving at night. Machines don't get tired, but you do. I don't know how many times my dad and I have swerved out of the lane by accident while...

    2025 ford expedition redesign

You might be able to get one of those in motion bypasses. I don't know if it is compatible though, but it could be. It is pricey though. https://www.4dtech.com/canopener-motion-unlock-360-camera-unlock/ Edit: I wish it is like our 2005 Lexus LS430. You just need to access the secret debug menu...

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

I wish it was still like that... They are charging up front for the 2024 Expedition. We would have totally swallowed a $200-$300 annual subscription (GM Super Cruise is $250 annually stand alone or $150 annually if added on another OnStar Plan I believe). $800 is just insane. Does...

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

@nationalgallery The vehicle my dad and I built is around $93,000. We didn't option the BlueCruise unless the dealer can give it to us for free. :p But we're most likely using the X-Plan discount we can get through Google (dad works there). We're waiting for the order guide to come out before...

Powertrain Malfunction and Pre-collision Assist Not available - Dealer says there are no codes??

That really sounds like some cable in the back of the vehicle's computer got loose.

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

If you build a 2024 Expedition Platinum, the 3 year BlueCruise subscription is a $2100 add-on (if you don't get it, you get 90 day trial). I don't have any articles or anything that they are charging $800 annually after that (as you said info is on F-150s and Mach-E), but I doubt they'd make it...

I guess you can keep pestering the dealer to replace the inverter under warranty.

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

I'm not a financial expert but I do trade on the stock market. I would think having options on certain stocks wouldn't give you any special treatment from the company as your relation/contract is with a 3rd party. Now if you owned stocks, or you exercised the option buying shares, that would...

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

Well my dad and I checked out the Jeep Wagoneer. It definitely has more storage space in the back (we measured the extended version and it is 6ft behind the 2nd row), but you're right, the rest of it sucks. The glove compartment is super small, the seats are uncomfortable, screen is small, no...

    Help - Dome light deactivated!

Well you can always leave a multimeter in your car, and the next time it happens, go measure your battery voltage and check. It seems like it went into some kind of power saver mode because you drained the battery too much. Also maybe bring it to Walmart so they can check the battery health.

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

Thanks to you, I'm looking at the Jeep Wagoneer too. :hahano: The interior definitely lags behind Ford, and some of the tech is behind Ford as well, but that fuel economy is really good on the Series II. Also with the off road package, it seems it would perform just slightly better than the...

Ford Sync 4 update and maps

Seems like the vehicle hasn't been localized to your region yet. I think there is probably a few region flags you can flip with Forscan, but have you considered asking the dealer about localizing it? I think they have to flip some flags. The vehicle probably still thinks it's in Canada. One easy...

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

If you can afford the Grand Wagoneer, then go for it. I'd also avoid the GM vehicles. Our family checked out the GMC Yukon XL, we hated the interior. 1. Glove compartment and center console were small, smaller than our 2006 Honda Pilot. 2. They stripped the interior of all 12v outlets except...

Buying new Expedition... Still paying MSRP?

You probably can negotiate. My parents are in the market for one too, and our family went to the dealership (Livermore, CA), and the sales guy is telling us the MSRP is negotiable now. Not sure how much. Also if you work for a large company, you might want to check if there are corporate...

I realllllly want to love the truck, but man is this thing glitchy!

Glad to hear most of the problems resolved! The tiny mechanism fail shouldn't be hard to fix. Reminds me of when I was at the dealer and the passenger side upper storage compartment wouldn't close. The sales person seemed kind of embarrassed showing a potential customer a car line that, but...

    To the Max or Not?

My parents and I currently use a 2006 Honda Pilot, which my dad bought almost new (it was a dealer test drive vehicle with most of the bells and whistles). Can the GPS accept coordiantes?

Your vehicle was supposed to come with a printed abridged manual with just stuff you'll need in case of an emergency. Ford mostly went digital with the complete manual. You can find it on Ford's website. https://www.ford.com/support/owner-manuals/ The manual should also be built into your...
