Magnaflow is the best way. I have one on my 05, and 2010 expo's. 4x7x14 2.5" in/out in my 05... its loud. but not obnoxious. I put a 5x8x18. 3" in/out on my wifes 2010. That one is a deeper tone. and quieter. 0 drone either way.. flowmaster is horrible for droans in the 5.4. sounded great...
Just an update I followed this video. 2-3 shift is a little firm. But I put in softer springs for the 1-2-2-3 Accumulators from a shift kit I bought but I didn’t use. I wasn’t about to drill the valve body case. I also installed a new pressure regulator valve and updated torque converter...
I’m rebuilding my transmission in my 05. Reverse band burnt out from backing up my manure trailer up a hill. 180k miles. First time out. My 1-2 shift was kinda sluggish but not horrible. I took out one of the 1-2 accumulator springs. I ordered a rebuild kit and got a shift Correction kit from...
By same height as originals. Mine is lifted. If you put these In. You may notice a small difference. Maybe 1/4 inch half inch tops. Mine is lifted 3”. So. I won’t see it.
Soo after replacing one of my wife’s running board motors last year. And it seizing up. Again. And the other side. Going so slow. I did a thing. Let’s see how long it lasts now. Both are working great!!
I also cleaned and lubed all the other pivots.
Check the vacuum lines to your front axle locks. Could have a mild leak causing them to lock up when engine vacuum is low. Would be more of a grinding noise but check it all the same
I put a set of ranchos in my wife’s expo. That I took out. Horrible. I’ve used cheepo shocks in other cars like Subarus and alike. The kybs I put in my uncles jeep were too soft for me. These seem like factory ride replacements. Not too hard not too soft. Like oem. Aftermarket can be close. But...
Shocks have the part numbers Ground off where the oem tags are . Came in motorcraft boxes. Maybe a lower line parts. But for a 05 with 180k I have. I didn’t care. Will be the last set it gets. From me anyway. Look the same as the factory ones it came with. And it rides perfect.
Do not use anything over 3”. Even at that. The axle bind is too much unless you drop down the front diff. Or get newer axles that can flex more. This is what I used on lifting my expo. And it sits perfectly now. Even better now with the new struts all around.
Just a heads up to all you 04-06 expos out there. Rockauto has motorcraft complete struts on close out. Just put a set in my self. All 4. Get em while you can!!!!
My wife’s 2010 will not start with the key randomly. Both keys we have do the same. Theft light flashes. It will start with the remote start factory setup. Thoughts on this??
thanks!!!
Personal opinion here. Don’t tow anything over 27ft with a half ton truck. Or 30ft with a 3/4. Duley is needed anything over 30 for proper stability. You May say I’ll be save and keep it slow. But we all know people don’t. Lol.
Check the timing chain tensioners. The seals blow out and cause loss of oil pressure. I did them in both my 05 expo. And my 2010. Problem being if it ran too long with low oil pressure it damages the cam bearings. If you do them. A full timing setup and guides. And high volume oil pump. Should...
love my 05... 130k i did the phazers and complete timing kit and lifters. except the oil pump.. didnt know at the time they were problematic... but I has 170k miles now and still runing great... I do use 5w30 oil now full synthetic. I did the fuel pump module too and under coated it to...
only had to grind off about 1/4" of the wheel studs to clear the spacers. so no loss in support of the wheels. I do have a slight vibration now after the wheel spacers, im gonna take the wheels off and retorque the spacers and see if it goes away.
