Ended up replacing the front Bilstien 5100s with Icon Vehicle Dynamics 2.5 coilovers. Running them at the lowest recommended setting, equaling ~0.80 inches of lift as measured on an alignment rig. Funny thing is the Icons DID NOT solve the clunk, however they did lessen it (softer overall...
I’ve been dealing with a clunking noise over broken pavement. I’ve had it looked at by more than one shop. Every shop so far has pointed to the front end.
Clunk started shortly after having the trans dropped to replace a torque converter. Took it back to the shop and they supposedly tightened...
Resurrecting this thread. Have a 2024 SSV (XL trim level) for work that the driver side window and mirror controls have stopped working. Took it into service and they started working. Tech couldn’t replicate. Now same day I picked it up, they’ve stopped again. My first thought was water...
Yes, this is correct. This is only to get it onto a tow truck. Vehicle should never be flat towed unless you go under the vehicle and manually force it to remain in neutral and only for emergency use only to get it safely off to the side and out of harms way.
Only affects vehicles that had EPAS repairs and only 18-21 models; total number affected across all models was 7,400 (very small amount). OP has a new 22+ model based on pic.
With the stock offset of +44, the 305 should clear. When you start going towards 0 or - offset you will run into fender rub issues. The F load rates tires will certainly make it ride rougher. Is comfort important to you? I wouldn’t lower the pressures below 35 or 36 psi for normal use, to try...
Dealer was able to replicate the clunk, it's coming from the lower spring perch on the drivers side front strut/shock assembly. I have aftermarket bilstien 5100s installed and reused the lower perch from the OEM strut/shock assembly. Dealer is unwilling to go further since it's aftermarket. Once...
Had the truck lifted by the lower control arm to take the stress off the ball joints. Couldn’t find any movement in the upper or lower ball joints for both sides. Used a long pry bar to stress them. Didn’t check tie rods yet.
It’s funny that I listed off a lot of wear items that could make a clunk… Now it’s my turn to track down a mystery clunk. I’ve replaced and checked every component on the front end minus the upper and lower control arms, ball joints, abd tie rod ends. I did check the ball joints and they’re all...
Interesting find. I’d be more inclined to try out there 8” to 12” sync4 system, to keep all my buttons. However at 3k in price, it’s not a feasible option right now… needs to be 50% less before I seriously consider purchasing the kit...
You previously posted this via a link… the OP tried it, it didn’t work… reposting it won’t change anything…
F150 coding doesn’t always work for the expedition, also consider this code came from the 2021+ f150s which are a whole 2 generations newer than the platform the 2018-2021 expeditions...
I think this is something you'll have to research and find out for the forum. I believe you're the first member to ask if they can be made brighter. I'm not so sure that the DRLs on the 2018-2021 expeditions can be made brighter. Perhaps on the 2022+ models, which may use code similar to the...
Interesting… I have that exact noise on mine… it’s not awful and with it out of warranty I don’t really want to tear into it to much. How labor intensive was it to fix?
Yep you’re right. My mistake. Usually end up filling it with 26 gallons once it gets to under a 1/4 tank. I think only once have I pumped ~29 gal into it and completely forgot it could take that much.
The hybrid will provide some assistance even at highway speeds. It’s minimal but it does help with keeping boost down when passing or going up minor inclines. The engine will charge the battery while you’re driving so it constantly can provide assistance. The fuel tank is smaller at only 26...
Not sure how you neighbor was driving his Powerboost but to say that it was worse than the non-hybrid version is incorrect. I daily drive a SSV F150 Powerboost for work. It sees lots of stationary work with engine on plus thousands of miles per month on the road. These Powerboosts can take some...
I pulled the whole lower assembly off and placed it in a press. Pressed the bolt out and then put it all back together again with the 5100s. Road grime and years in the salt belt had the bolt seized into the strut.
If no dye is found anywhere on the exterior surfaces of the hoses and block then yes, I’ll be changing the cap out for a new one. The cap theory has crossed my mind but I’ve also seen signs (very small colorful plume on wet pavement when left idling) that the water pump may be weeping as well...
I’m dealing with a similar issue, no visible signs of leaks and it’s been like this since the vehicle was new… at dealership now having torque converter replaced and they have added dye to try and identify where it might be leaking. My guess is it’s weeping from the water pump.
