    New owner questions

Welcome! For long life, I recommend FULL SYNTHETIC oil changes at no m, more than 5,000-mile intervals. I change mine at 3,000 because I do a lot of in-town driving, not too many road miles

New to the community few questions

Welcome to the forum! The Expys that come stock with a subwoofer put it in the rear of the wheel humps in the rear cargo area. Maybe that location would work for you.

    Cooper Discoverer Tires?

We are currently driving our fourth vehicle with Michelin Defenders. We love them. They give us great service. Highly recommend.

    Spark plug recommendations

Hi fellow Expys! The owner's manual for my 2019 Limited recommends spark change at 100,000 miles. Why are we changing our plugs so early?

    Drive Mode Dial Knob Help

Try looking for a replacement for your console part on Rock Auto. I've purchased a lot of parts from them for our 2nd Gen Expy and our 4th Gen. Exact matches, good prices.

    ‘25 Expedition or ‘24 Navigator

There are some YouTube reviews of the Expedition Platinum vs. the Navigator. The presenter had trouble showing what extras you get for the $5,000 increase in price for the Navigator. Besides, at trade-in time, a 2024 model of anything is not going to have as much value as ANY 2025 model.

What Are These Under the Hood?

They look like engine-bay light mounting brackets to me. Maybe an option on some trims? Maybe available from Amazon?

New Member - Are there Expedition features that are a must?

We purchased a pre-owned 2019 Limited in regular length. All-wheel drive, navigation system, and captain's chairs were must-haves for us. All other options were nice-to-haves.

    Noises

WOW! I can't begin to imagine NOT changing my oil every 5,000 miles or less. I change mine every 3,000 miles. Where on earth did the 17,000 mile interval come from? That sounds totally insane. If I were you, I would get a full-synthetic oil change TODAY. I would also change it again in three...

    New guy here!

Over the years, we've owned a 1997 Expy XLT, a 2006 Expy XLT, and currently own a 2019 Expy Limited. The difference is like night and day. The new technology makes our 2019 a whole new breed of cat. It is a true joy to drive. It is my daily get-around.

    2023 extra key fob

We have a 2017 Edge in addition to our 2019 Expy. They both came with only one key. Our local Ace Lock & Key duplicated both of them exactly. The Edge was acquired three years ago. The extra key cost us $300. The Expy key was only $225. The replacements are identical to the originals. I've been...

Recommendations on accessories (new Expedition owner)

Hi, new Expy owner! I strongly recommend Weather Tech floor liners along with cargo area liner.

    Locking Gas Cap

There are also several online sites that carry OEM parts. I always start my searches at Rock Auto.

    Cover for Cheap Plastic Dash

Take a look at DashMat. They make a good product. Good prices too.

    Which 3rd gen should I buy? 2015 / 15,000 or 2017 / 30,000?

Hi - We had a Gen 1 and a Gen 2. We got great service from both. We never had a Gen 3. We now have a 2019 Gen 4. I would suggest skipping either of the Gen 3's and get a Gen 4. It is a whole new vehicle: new engine, new transmission, new frame, new suspension, new body panels, new seats, new...

    Interior lighting

Ambient lighting is accessed from the "Settings" tile. You will have to scroll your tiles to the left to see all of them. About ambient lighting from the 2019 Expedition manual: "Tap a color once to activate ambient lighting. This sets the color to the highest intensity. You can drag the colors...

2020 Ford Expedition at stop light engine dies

Hi, fellow Expy lovers! Our 2019 Expedition Limited came with an owner's manual. Maybe yours did too. This post probably sounds a little snarky. I didn't mean it that way. I'm sorry if it offended anyone.

    Keyless entry door code

Hi, fellow Expys! There is a YouTube video showing how to determine your factory door code WITHOUT pulling off your trim panels and using a mirror. You will have to use BOTH of your key fobs placed in the recess under the cupholder in the center console. I couldn't find the video this morning...

    Transmission service

Our second Expedition was a 2006 model with four-wheel drive. We were told we should change the transmission fluid every 50,000 miles. Newer ones are recommended at 150,000-mile intervals. The cost was $275 at a service center. They would NOT change the fluid without also changing the filter...

    I figured it out!

Hi, fellow Expy people! Since we got our "new" 2019 Expedition, I've been trying to figure out what this small rectangular opening in the dashboard is for. Well, today I figured it out. It's a great place to keep your key fob if it's not in your pocket. Everyone puts it in the cupholder but I...

What is this part? 2024 Limited

We bought our 2017 Edge from a third party and it did not have a front license plate bracket. I had to get one from Rock Auto. It was a perfect match for the bumper contour. The only scary part was drilling holes in our "new" car's bumper!

Michelin Defender LTX M/S 2 rim protection?

Hi, fellow Expys! I don't know about rim protection, but we've had Michelin Defenders on our 2013 Escape, 2006 Expedition, 2017 Edge, and 2019 Expedition. We would not think of driving on anything else.

    2014 or 2017? And why?

Hi, fellow Expy people. We drove our 2006 2nd Gen for 15 years. We recently upgraded to a 2019 4th Gen. It is a whole new, re-engineered Expedition. New engine, new transmission, new frame, new suspension, new body panels, new seats, new electronics, and a new dashboard. If you're looking to...
