The "axle thru the frame" thing is interesting to me.
When the GM twins (triplets? quads? quints?) switched to an independent rear, the control arms in the back are so low! (see below...yes, I know, the pic of the tahoe is the RST, but the issue is across all trims).
I always wondered how...
Long time since I have been around here. I was one of the early 4th gen buyers (took delivery in February of 2018) and have loved my Expi Plati Max 4x4 since (with a few hiccups along the way). Im at 100k miles and am back in the market.
I didn't love the 5th gen so I was looking elsewhere. I...
There is a setting in one of the menus that lets you adjust your speed limit variance. So if the SL is, say, 65, and you set a 4mph variance, it will set the speed to 69 when you cross into the 65mph zone. It will hold that variance for all speed limit changes. So, yes, it will change each time...
That Platinum Ultimate pricing is rough. But that’s what I’ll likely end up with. But I’m still 2-3 years out. My ‘18 platinum max is still great!
Meanwhile, I just reserved a Scout Traveler. Haha
The Ranger has never had (since its reintroduction to the US market) the keypad as a factory option; it has always been dealer installed (and honestly looks tacked on):
The Expi has its integrated under the piano black on the b-pillar and I dont think that could ever be dealer installed.
I'm...
I meant JUST the glass, not the whole top half of the hatch. I guess the glass opening may not be that exciting if the whole top half of the hatch opens now.
ALSO! Hybrid “by the end of the decade” per the engineer.
GREAT video, thank you! (Mostly the segment at the end with the Ford Engineer.) I found the podcast and listened to it on my run. I have 5 minutes left but I had a few notes and questions:
- TWO platinum trims, including “platinum ultimate” which gets the 24” wheels and will be the “primary...
It does appear the black part is just plastic…I have no idea what’s underneath, but it’s likely just the metal.
Unsure on the frame, altho they did note (as was also mentioned in the FLT video) that there have been significant frame updates.
They go into the button function @8:00 in this video: https://youtu.be/HNoPumhp-8s?si=i4MD0Sk_tS1F95op
I think you’d be able to work these without looking after a short learning curve.
(What the lady told me at the launch event over the weekend was incorrect.)
I also don’t love the lack of buttons. There are still a couple buttons, but most are on the screen. The climate control “buttons” are ever-present at the bottom of the screen, so that’s something. I did read somewhere that based on research they have determined that most people leave the...
I don’t think they took storage away in the center condole, it still has a really big bin under the flip up lid, not just the one you see.

Edit: I just saw that @newyorkistansux caught it too.
I had to talk them into opening the cabin for me, all of the displays were locked. They let me in as long as I didn’t actually get in. That’s why I don’t have more photos.
Saw the whole lineup at the Texas State Fair today. They’re beautiful and the weird dash, while weird, is actually pretty well done. I was skeptical about the dash in the release, but in person it grew on me quickly.
The two-tone splitgate is … not great. The black is piano black plastic so...
Lots of threads on this topic. Here is one, which includes another post of mine with links to a bunch of the other threads:

Final update here....
After dropping the truck off on Wednesday, they called Friday night and said it was ready to be picked up. It's been driving like a dream since I picked it up on Saturday.
Per the paperwork:
"CDF Cylinder bushing failure; Found burnt C D and F clutch due to CDF cylinder...
I think the 4th gens clearly had some issues early on in the run. Mine was one of the first 5,000 off the line, so I think I have had more problems than most. My three "big issues" have been:
1) the 4wd hub actuator failure (which has been fixed on later model years)
2) the cam phaser issue...
Even though the TSB clearly describes what my vehicle is doing, and my truck was built in the applicable timeframe, when they plug my VIN into the system, the TSB does not come up as applicable to my vehicle.
So because they duplicated the problem and acknowledge something is wrong, rather than...
