    2013 Expy Limited

90+k on my 2014 and it’s still the beast. We tow a 4000# trailer and it does the job just fine.

    Adjustable Rear Hatch Height?

I have the opposite issue. I want to limit the liftgate’s opening. It always whacks the open garage door. I placed a pool noodle on the inside handle to cushion the strike so the gate stops and doesn’t automatically close on me.

    Triton 5.4L 3V Engine Reliability

My 2014 LTD has 80K on it. No issues. Runs and idles smooth. Religious about oil/filter changes. All other fluids changed about 5000 miles ago. Pulls a 3500 lb trailer in NW mountains about 3000+ miles a year.

2008 Expedition 4x4 spills fuel back out when I top off the tank

I just fill up to the point where the nozzle automatically cuts off. Every time I’ve tried to “top off” I’ve had spillage which is unlawful in my state.

Strange blower motor issue on 2015 Expedition.

Right…I’ve been trying to find an HVAC schematic for my Expy, but everything seems to be behind paywalls…and being the cheapo I am… But I do find it curious that there’s no access to the evap coils through the air inlet to administer a shot of cleaning foam…it is, after all, an air inlet.

    Inlet Grille Mystery Trim Pieces

While removing the air inlet grilles on my 2014 Limited these two pieces dropped on the garage floor. The grille retaining clips I get, but I can not see any obvious cutouts on the sheet metal telling me where these two go.

    Evaporator Coil Cleaning

Thanks, Dustin What corner of the air box did you drill…upper left, upper right? It’s recommended to drill as close in alignment to the drain line as possible. There’s no way to tell where the drain line is from looking at the face of the box. Any idea?

    Evaporator Coil Cleaning

What's the best way to clean the evaporator coil with a foaming cleaner without tearing the whole dash board out or removing the blower box? Is there a way to access the evap coils from the top through the inlet grille area? I read one suggestion is to go up into the drain line, but darned if I...

Strange blower motor issue on 2015 Expedition.

Along these lines...is there a way to access the evaporator coils through the intake grille (that sits below the windshield)? I live in a very dusty environment and I just know that the coils have picked up an accumulation of dust causing the AC temp to run a tad warmer. I was told that there's...

    Blowing dust in cabin

Due to work I spent about 6 days in the SW desert. There were several dust storms that blew dusty air down into the windshield vents. Subsequently, when the vent fan or AC is blowing I have dusty air blowing into the cabin and coating the dash and the glare shield and other bits and pieces in...

Cabin Air Filter on 2016 Expedition

Due to work I spent about 6 days in the desert. There were several dust storms that blew dusty air into the windshield vents. Subsequently, when the vent fan or AC is blowing I now have dusty air blowing into the cabin and coating the dash and the glare shield and other bits and pieces. I've...

Well, about time for tires again...

Wow…I didn’t know that about Costco and the others. You’d think a tire was a tire no matter who sells it. My Michelin Defenders were purchased from Discount where I have purchased ALL my tires for 20 years. They’ll take a tire back for just about any reason. I took a set of ST trailer tires back...

Lifespan of 3rd Gen front struts?

2014 LTD with 86k+…I’ve towed a 3500 lb trailer about 5000 miles annually since 2016. Never noticed any problems with front end. It was purchased used from Enterprise.

13 Limited, wet third row floor carpet, dry everywhere else

For the first time couple months ago I noticed water droplets running down the inside of the left side rear vent window. It wasn’t much, but no one wants water coming inside. I got some thin weather stripping and applied it around the top seal. That seems to have stopped the water from getting in.

    Starting issue

Another thing to check may be the start solenoid/relay. I'm too lazy to look it up on the 3rd Gen Expy, but on my '97 Explorer it was easily accessible on the driver's side fender. Check YouTube for testing the solenoid on your Expy. A 2016 is old enough to have corrosion or other old-age...

    Tires for 2017 Expedition

Often tires will age out before they wear out. So, even if a tire has good tread there is internal wear and tear brought on by age. Tires that are pushing 6-10 years (depending on make and model) are candidates for retirement. My Defenders have about 35,000-40,000+ on them (5000-6000 per year...

    Tires for 2017 Expedition

My Michelin Defenders have served us well for 6 years. Dang I hate replacing tires with so much tread remaining! We only put about 5000 a year on them…tow vehicle…so they age out before wearing out.

Silly question but can you power wash under the hood

I use a pressure washer, but I don’t place the high pressure nozzle directly on any specific component. I rather hold it back a little so I’m getting mostly a lighter spray effect. Hard-to-remove stuff I’ll hit it with high pressure making sure I’m not compromising sensitive components. The...

    Trim clips

2014 5.4L Limited. I’m talking about the cover that extends over the radiator(s) and the trim clips that hold it down. My clips have a small Phillips screw in the center. The screw just spins and doesn’t release the clip. Does a regular trim clip removal tool pop them out? I’m reluctant to give...

    Backup Camera Upgrade

The backup camera screen on my 2014 Limited is a small inset in the inside rear view mirror. I’ve never been totally happy with it, but have never had a problem using it to back up to my trailer hitch. I usually nail it on the 4th or 5th attempt!

Oil Capacity? How much Should I put in?

My 2014 LTD takes 7 quarts with a filter change…goes right up to the top hole on the dip stick.

    Battery

All the lights on my 2014 time out when any of the doors are left open. It’s always been like that. I didn’t know there is a light timer setting.

Seeking guidance with preparing for the timing overhaul

Are you doing it because you know the followers are bad, or just getting ahead of it? Love to hear how it progresses. How many miles on your truck? Mine’s also a 2014 with about 82k and no signs or sounds of a problem. Yeah, I know…it’s not if, it’s when.

    5.4 roller follower failure

I DIY my oil changes and have seen nothing that indicates sludge in the old oil while draining. The shop just suggested the hot oil change with the additive as a roller follower preventative measure. But you're saying it's not necessary if there's no sludge?

    5.4 roller follower failure

My shop said don’t panic. They suggest doing a “hot oil change” and put in an additive that will, among other things, clean the oil ports improving lubrication. They also suggested going to a 3000 mile oil/filter change.
