Gen 2 Instrument Cluster
i tried to go the plug & play way but it didn't work, the plugs for the 03-04 are on the bottom of the cluster and the plugs on the 05-06 are near the top. plugs couldn't even come close to reaching- proboscis

2004 instrument cluster swap to 2005
thought i'd update this for anyone else looking. i recently got an '04 XLT without the message center and i wanted it, so i got a cluster from an '06. can't even plug it in. on the '04 cluster, the plugs are on the bottom. on the '06, they're in the back near the top. and here i thought since...- proboscis

oh yeah, they're toast! i only trusted them to drive home. found a deal on marketplace for 20" wheels & tires off a 2018 f-150 so good to go. much better look i think. that's my 2010 explorer behind it with 225,000 miles, was hoping to get to 300,000 but may have to take a break to drive this lol- proboscis
