Yeah my 05 did do better around town but not by much. Since the EL is a lot heavier the gas mileage is not going to be great. Kind of why I waited for 2010 with the six speed tranny. I now average 12/13 around town and 17/18 on the highway.
I had 125K miles on my 2005 Limited before I traded it in this year for the 2010. That Expedition was single handedly the best truck I have ever owned. The only thing I had to replace in that was brakes, (60K) serpentine belt (80K) and a battery (100K).
Now, I had a 2003 prior that had a lot...
Do a search for testing the coil packs. I believe you have to "ohm" them out. Also make sure you didn't "over oil" the K&N as well. Several documented issues of over oiling the filter causing CEL to go off and run like crap. Try cleaning up the throttle body (MAF) as well. Last but not...
Damn Rick,
Sounds like we made the same deal. I got 10K for my trade (had 125K) on my 05 LTD. But yeah a little over 46K is what I got for my White LTD EL.
Congrats. Retired AF myself here in Va. I just traded my 05 in for a 2010 Limited. A lot of nice upgrades. The navigation unit is sweet. Power rear hatch and the power running boards are a great option. Good luck with it.
Good Info. As I am going to change mine in the spring. I will say this though. I have 120K on my 05 and it is holding in there like a champ. This has been an EXTREMELY good truck. Much better than my old 2003.
That is true. TSB 06-15-2 tells you the procedures to properly remove the plugs from the 3V motor. However keep in mind the 2V also has a TSB out 07-15-2 which warns of thread removal in aluminum heads. A much more severe problem to worry about.
All EB's come with sub-woofer and a nice sound package. Our DVD player sounds like a movie theater on wheels. Try to look at the 04/05's More so 05 and up because they have the 3V 5.4 that has more power and better gas mileage. Plus they are more reliable than the 03/04.
Too many problems with the 03's
brake dust
power window motors
rear differential whines
Front Diff clutch slippage
spark plugs pulling threads out of the cylinder heads
All have TSB's. Do your research before you buy.
My 03 had diff problems. Front Diff had to be rebuilt due to the cluch pack slipping. You could feel it during hard accelerated turns. The rear had to be replaced twice due to the whine. It semed to be right around 10,000 miles. So far the 05 has been good to me.
My 05 Limited has the same type of rims. They don't look so bad. PITA to clean. I only use them during the winter months though. My aftermarket rims go on during spring, summer and fall.
Had an EB 03 for a little over 2 years. POS. I had the rearend REPLACED 3 times (whine) and front Diff (clutch slippage) rebuilt (all had TSB's on them) Then Power window regulators went in the front doors. Front rims were always dirty/dusty from the crappy brake pads Ford used. It was nice...
My 05 has been holding up great. The only problem I have had with it is leaking heater hoses from the back core. Better than my POS 03. Not sure if they fixed the rearend problem in 04 but you might want to keep an ear out for it. You can hear a moan that will change in pitch as you increase...
