    220v alternator

another thing I am considering (electrifying the trailer) is using hybrid-electric technology, like they do in city buses. That would mean a bunch of batteries with a generator to charge them as needed. But that would be cool (and green). Of course there is also the hydrogen fuel-cells...

Thanks for your comment. Good point about taking the D/C to A/C. I will look into that.....

    220v alternator

I run a food truck business so I tow around a trailer which is like a kitchen on wheels. On the trailer I have a 10,000 watt 110/220v gas generator that powers up all the equipment (3 refrigerators, freezer, toaster, water heater, lights, computer, etc.). The generator is brand new but at...

    Weight Distribution Hitch

I am sorry for being ignorant on this.... Is an anti-sway hitch (like the equalizer) the same as a WDH? When I look at their web site i see that it helps the swaying but I don't get how the tongue weight is now distributed to the front axle? What am I missing here? I have an 04 Expy EB...

    My 1st mod: Gadget panel

Latest picture - one year later If I have anymore gadgets I won't be able to see out. :P (and then it will have to be IFR all the way...)

    My 1st mod: Gadget panel

Only clips that hold the top piece down to the bottom half. Gravity keeps it down anyway so there is no need for a screw or bolt The thing that may keep it from coming out could be the wiring harnass. Just give it a good yank.

    Dual batteries in an Expy?

Has anyone installed a second/backup battery in an Expy? I work out of my truck a lot (while parked), the other day I had my laptop charger plugged in, 2-way radio, etc. and over a few hours the battery went dead on me and I could not start the truck. Yes, I know I can go start it every...

    Cigarette lighters on separate circuits?

My 2004 EB has 4 cigarette lighter sockets total: one in the bin in the center console; one by the passenger footwell; one on the rear of the center console; and one at the tailgate. Two of them are not getting any juice (the one by the passenger footwell and the one on the rear of the center...

    '04 Expy whining noise??

Hi all, I am new to the Expy, just had it for about a month, so I am still learning its personality. Every since the first day I drove it, I noticed a "wrommm wrommm wrommmmm" sound coming from the motor/outside during acceleration (past maybe 30 MPH), it increases slightly in pitch as the...

    How to remove headlights?

Thanks EL! You really had gone above and beyond to help a buddy. I was finally able to get those headlights out (hey I am an expert now), and with SG1NUT's advices, I successfully installed the strobe bulbs and got them running. Damn they look nice.. and damn bright too. The HID video is...

    How to remove headlights?

EL do you remember if the headlight unit comes out by sliding forward? or does it swing/pivot out? or? I removed the bolts and the unit is loose, but the slack/free play is only about 3/8" and something is keeping it from coming out. The taillight is simple, it just slides backward and out.

    My 3rd mod: Landing lights

Say, have you installed any strobes? The ones that integrate into the turn signals. Say if the strobe box is under the hood, how would you route the cables to the rear taillights? Would you run it in the headliner and then down the rear pillars? Or under the rocker? Or under the vehicle...

BTW, SG1NUT you should know these products really well right? Didn't you say you install these on vehicles? Do you do it as a living? A sideline? Or a hobby?

    How to remove headlights?

Again EL thanks for coming to the rescue. The two bolts were obvious. The 3rd in the back looks like an alignment bolt so I was hesitant to screw with it. But I finally did after GRIP's post. But I was still having problem getting the unit loose... Feels that there is a catch/tab thing...

    My 3rd mod: Landing lights

You are probably right that SpeedTech is inferior in quality to the real professional stuff - it is at a much lower price point. But the stuff I have gotten from them seems well made and I am happy with them. But then again, I use them for novelty it is not like I turn them on everyday...

My 2nd mod: No more dangle cables

What is this compartment for? My opinion is that this is the perfect spot for your control panel. It is large enough and is in the correct spot when you are driving. Really cool flipping overhead switches - like when you get into a jet ;) Why don't you pull this panel out and snap some...

    How to remove headlights?

Sorry this may be real simple but I am a rough guy and I tend to break things so I thought I'd better ask first to avoid heartache. Besides these two bolts, what else do you have to do to remove the headlight unit? Thanks in advance.

    My 3rd mod: Landing lights

No Avro, those are "STL Grille Pro" from SpeedTech Lights, a company in Richardson, TX. Their stuff is fairly well built and MUCH more affordable than the typical Wheelens. All the emergency stuff in my truck is from there. http://www.speedtechlights.com/ I got the lead from the motor pool...

    My 3rd mod: Landing lights

Got the front of the Expy all wired up today. Those are "for off-road use only" KC 6x9 100W driving lamps. Can't wait to flash those idiots who drive with high beams on. I am a bit concerned about the real estate of these gadgets blocking free air flow to the radiator. I guess I will...

While you are at it, snap a picture of that (space) between the 2 bucket seats, where the cup holders are, can't tell if you have a console there or not?
