On my last road trip my rear air started doing the same thing, I have an extended warranty but it's a $100 deductible. After reading this thread it still looks like it's worth paying the $100 to get it done though. I'm amazed at how many people have this problem and Ford just keeps using the...
My buddy has a 98 and has problems with the GEM module, so check for evidence of any windshield leak and dripping on the GEM, which is attached to the fuse box I'm told.
Should be logging a code if the light is on. A buddy of mine had similar electrical issues but no codes so it took a long time to diagnose but turned out the GEM module had a short from water that was dripping on it from a leaking windshield seal. Something for the mechanic to check.
Funny you say that I have that tickng sound but can't tell where it's coming from, I thought it was coming from the AC compressor. Any link to the TSB on this and is this on all 5.4's or just certain years?
Add to that market manipulation. But don't stop there, then there is added refinery costs like certain seasonal blends for states like California, more expensive refining for different quality crudes, extra state road taxes and whatever the station owner wants to tag on.....up, up and away it goes.
I pretty much figured that was the case. I had a Chevy Tahoe that drank oil from day one and GM specs said that 1 qt every 800 miles was within specs for the 350......So I have a feeling Ford would be the same, amazing isn't it. I'm going to get it on record while the warranty is still active as...
Nobody knows the answer to that question, dollar continues to weaken, middle east getting more and more unstable, and we have the green movement who would love for gas to be unaffordable so they can push there agenda.
I drop $100 now to fill up every 10 days or so, and I have plans for a big...
My 05 is using oil, last oil change I noted down 2 quarts at 4,000 miles. Now I have 2,000 miles on the oil and it's showing down a quart so looks like it's consistant. I have had the car for just under a year now so I don't have a history. I do get a plume of blue/white smoke sometimes at start...
My 05 with 57,000 miles routinely gets 14 mpg average per tank (calculated by actual gas used and mileage traveled) and I do combo driving roughly 60% city 40% highway. Only mod is a K&N filter. It's getting expensive again, $70 to put 20 gallons in today, that's .25 cents per mile cost on fuel.
I have been using Mobil 1 full synthetic 5-30w since I bought my Expy used last year, it had 48,000 miles on it and according the the oil change records the prior owner was using Penzoil full synthetic. I now have 56,000 on it and Unfortunatley I've noticed oil consumption at about 2 quarts per...
I have a 2005 and use 5-30 Mobil 1 full synthetic. I have used several brand filters w/o issue, just make sure they have the silicone anti-back flow valve to stop the start-up knock. Motorcraft is the cheapest though at Walmart.
I'm curious as to the 5-50, the oil cap and manual recommend...
Complete visual check and no external leaks anywhere. First easy fix might be a new PCV valve. But I sense it's something more terminal either in the heads or a ring. No engine light yet and other than the original slight rough idle it always had it runs fine. Like I mentioned I get that puff of...
I recently noticed a puff of blue/white smoke at start up on my 05 Expy so I checked the oil and much to my surprise it was down to the bottom of the stick and I had roughly 3,000 on it from the last oil change. I've only owned the vehicle for 9 months so I am unaware of any prior consumption...
My 2005 gets between 12.5 and 14.5 depending on ratio of city/highway, all highway is hard to figure as the only time I burn a tank on the highway I'm pulling a trailer or fully loaded down for a trip. My only mod is a K&N filter.
I had a Chevy Tahoe that burned oil from mile one, it was about 1 quart down at the 3,000 mile oil change. I complained about it to Chevy countless times and the response was it was within spec. As I stacked on the miles it got worse and worse, around 45,000 miles it was burning a quart every...
Well I will report back as to any difference as after reviewing Bobtheoilguy website I went ahead and used Mobil I 5W-30. I have pretty good records on gas mileage so I can now compare....time will tell.
That's assuming the engine actually gets measurable better mileage using the 5W-20 right? My assumption there is no difference, but I could be wrong....
On my 05 the instrument cluster light adjust wheel also turns off the interior lights when moved all the way to one end. I use this function when camping as the doors and back hatch get left open for long periods of time and it keeps the battery from going dead.
