Broken tail light, 2019 Platinum $750???

It may show my age, but I remember when cars had a single 7” round sealed beam headlamp on each side (and only one tail/brake light on the rear and the turn signal was your arm out the door). It didn’t matter the make or model, they all used either a 6v or 12v version of that bulb. Then they...

    Rear wiper blade replacement

Thank you. I wasn’t trying hard enough and now with it in hand, it really feels like something was going to break before it pops off. Now to find a replacement.

    Rear wiper blade replacement

i looked to see if someone has already covered this. The rear wiper blade on my 2018 Expy needs to be replaced. I’ve looked and it escapes me now to remove the blade. It’s got to be something simple that I’m overlooking. Maybe I’m not tugging hard enough in the right direction?

    Sensitive Door Locks

I’ve seen the lights flashing when washing the car but the mirrors don’t fold in as they do when I touch the pad to lock the doors. Those sensors are easily confused. As an additional caution for those with the foot action liftgate feature, the manual warns not to have the fob in your pocket...

Issues with Wireless Charger/USB Ports/Car Play

The nature of the wireless charger will cause the phone to feel noticeably warmer than usual, but “hot” is not good. Is the phone in a case? Most of us use a case to protect the phone, but the phone is designed to dissipate heat and some case designs act as an insulator retaining the heat...

120V AC outlet won't charge laptop

Ours seems to work fine. As with the OP, I’m charging a MacBook Pro. I did find a short extension cord was useful as the 85w wall wart didn’t look like it wanted to stay plugged in. Now the ww lays on the floor next to the laptop and is fully charged by our next stop. The blinking charge light...

Can I stop the cruise from engaging the brakes on hills?

We live in a region where it is relatively flat and the minor downgrades here do not cause a downshift or brake application. That said, last year we were on an extended road trip towing an 8000lb travel trailer using tow/haul mode. I did notice the tranny automatically downshifting to maintain...

    2018 Expedition oil consumption

I have an ‘18 Expy that has been used to tow an 8000# travel trailer for a total of 12,000 of it’s current 15,000 miles. This has included crisscrossing the Rockies in the US and Canada. I’ve let the computer dictate the oil changes and just had the 2nd change. Each at roughly 7500 miles and...

    Expedition Expedition to Alaska

50 states for a grandson before graduation! Congratulations!!! After re-reading your posts, I see camping it not in the picture. With a bit of common sense, you will probably have no need for bear spray, but if you do get one, it might be useful if someone were to try to mug you in Newark...

    Expedition Expedition to Alaska

We made that trip on nearly the identical routes in 2014 with an ‘02 Expy and again last summer with an ‘18 Expy, both times towing a 27’ travel trailer from Texas. Others have offered excellent ideas on what to take. Pepper spray in the small personal containers are outlawed in Canada, yet...

    Towing and offroading impressions

Duneslider, we share some similar results. I tow a 27' 9000#GVW travel trailer that weighs about 8200# on the scale including the tongue weight. My comparison was between an '02 Expy Eddy Bauer, 5.4l 2 valve Triton and 4spd in front of a 3.73ls and a '18 Expy Platinum Max, 3.6l EcoBoost and...

    Advanced Cargo Management

Is your back glass tinted? If so, I found a fabric shower curtain in black at Walmart. Laid over the stuff in the back and it's very difficult to tell if anything at all is back looking from the outside even on the brightest days.

    Advanced Cargo Management

Yes, that looks like it. Flat on the floor, it is a lid for the small compartments underneath, lifted up on its arms in a horizontal position it forms a small shelf, adequate for the shorter version of the Expy with the 3rd row seats upright. It can also be pivoted on its arms to form a...

    Advanced Cargo Management

I had not looked at this "feature" before we took delivery of our Max and once at home, I had one of those "what were they thinking" moments. Looking here and in the manual, I finally figured out how the rear floor compartment lid forms a useless raised horizontal shelf on the Max, but it does...

    Rear door foot opening question

Scroll back to my post of Jul 21 about this. I was also annoyed by the hatch opening while in the closed garage and also when accessing something through the open glass. I found a solution and have added 5000 miles and lots of activity back there like hooking up safety chains to the trailer...

The Waze update is out, who is using it instead of the native navigation?

Once I was pointed in the right direction to enable Waze, I thought this was cool. And then as your wife experienced it also locked up on me after it was running for awhile. Yours is Android mine is Apple. I have the latest iOS and latest Waze. I've given up on Waze for the time. The...

The Waze update is out, who is using it instead of the native navigation?

Thank You Dog Dad. I just made a screen shot of your steps so that I can try this later this morning. It appears the secret to getting Waze and possibly GasBuddy to work is to disable CarPlay. Reading between the lines, this means I can have Waze as my nav aid, but have to give up listening...

The Waze update is out, who is using it instead of the native navigation?

I must be missing a step. I've yet to get Waze or GasBuddy to come up on the screen. I have an iPhone, latest version of iOS and the Waze app installed. The Expy reports that I have Sync 3.0. I plug the iPhone into the usb port in the charging station. I'm logged into Waze and Waze is on my...

Ford, Are you Listening? 2018+ Change/Wish List

YES! This is exactly my frustration. Like you I normally want Eco mode for my day to day driving, but it must be selected on each engine start. Likewise, I tow a travel trailer, and am currently on an extended road trip. and as Meeker describes, it is like going through a preflight checklist...

Ford, Are you Listening? 2018+ Change/Wish List

I've not experienced that issue. Are you saying the pump prematurely shuts off unless you are pressing the fuel nozzle into the filler opening? Are these the pump handles that have the vapor capture collars? So for I haven't come across that type of pump handle on my travels.

    4th Gen Expy FORScan Modifications

Certainly the electronics that make all of this work shouldn't suck the battery down over several hours. We tow a travel trailer and most RV campground WiFi hotspots are a joke at best and nearly all are insecure. The advertised 50' range that Ford touts would be handy for those times you'd...
