315k using 5w30 full synthetic for about 6 to 7 years. As @Gary Waugh stated about EPA is correct so Ford can hit the fuel economy number. Note: My engine is as is from the factory including original cam phasers etc
@USAF Sarge First thank you for your service (side note my son will be joining the Air Force this year) I think all is correct those plugs look original so sad when shops are not honest
Welcome @Spinbox57 that does sound odd I just recently had an Evap error and for me luckily it was just the fuel cap. Couple of things you can try, if you have the old valve try switching it with the new part to see if you are having the same effect if not then maybe the new valve is possibly...
@vincentvega just for your info I have 35/12.50.17 and did not regear and have been running this setup since 2016. Regearing would be beneficial but I never had a big issue with the stock 3.73 gears. Yes I did lose a bit of acceleration at the initial take off but very minor, and I lost about 2...
I thought the stock bulbs to be somewhat lacking so I did a minor upgrade and switched out the main headlight bulbs to the Sylvania super white or a bright bulb or something like that and I was really surprised at how much better they were over stock so much so I also changed out the driving...
@Expd830 I am currently using 3.5 F & 2.5 R blockes/leveling kit to get the lift I have. The angles on the suspension are maxed so I cannot add any additional lift. Unfortunately, the after-market does not help our gen2.
@Victor Expedition The rear is definitely why I haven't proceeded with raising the truck more. The only thing I could think of is to see what rize did and if there was a way to copy or if someone was selling the old kit or in a junkyard. I am currently maxed at 3.5 F & 2.5 R. I would like to go...
Welcome, and the truck looks good one recommendation is to remove the running boards if you are going Overlanding they seem to be the first to get damaged IMO.
@Victor Expedition sounds like you did some work on your expy do you have any details posted/images on the F150 front swap? would be interesting to see.
@Rob Adams a few antidotes from my experience. As mentioned I had the pusher installed by a mechanic (happens to specialize in AC). They had fans on hand that they use. The first fan installed had straight blades and was very very loud annoyingly loud. Just so happens that the relay they put in...
I have had the same situation with the AC not cooling well when hot or sitting in place. I solved this for the most part (90% better) by having an e-pusher fan installed when I had my AC fixed some years back. I have some posts about my AC issues and the pusher fan.
Side comment: While driving...
@Gtempo I switched to the full synthetic 5-30 some time back and do not have experience with going up to the 40wt so I cannot comment on the use or effects of that weight. I chose the 5-30 for a couple of reasons as it relates to the engine that for me (which may not be actual) was my thought...
@Vincent Vega It is was interesting that when purchasing as a kit that things like this were not thought through, but at the same time I did not want an expensive kit nor a cheap kit so I guess little things like this will just be the case. Anyways now that I have some miles on them everything...
@Vincent Vega I should have thought about taking photos when I did the brake job! The brake job went 98% smooth with a couple of head-scratchers regarding the new calipers. 1st I bought the powerstop kit with the cross-drilled and slotted rotors with the Z37 SUV pads. (Note: Powerstop was not my...
@Vincent Vega Back in 2016 when I lifted my truck I redid, for the most part, the entire front suspension (the essential parts) and plan on doing something similar with replacing struts, springs new upper, and replacing bushings in the lower A-arm. I already purchased new brake rotors and...
@Vincent Vega Thank you for the info really helps me choose the direction I've been mulling over. I have been debating on selling the truck but still like the old girl and with the cost of new vehicles with overinflated costs I have decided to drop some money and give it a refresh.
Welcome to the forum. Just a couple of recommendations sue 5w-30 oil. The 5w-20 ford recommends was for them to meet certain federal criteria. The second is regarding the cold air intake. You may want to research if it would have any benefit on a stock engine. I have played around with different...
Thanks for posting this write up. I am in the process of changing out my fronts 4600 with the 5100 as you did. You stated that at the stock setting on the 5100 it lifted the truck 2.5 inches I thought that getting the 2.5 inches of lift was placing the circlip at the max lift (top ring) If at...
_sen, unfortunately, there are not many or any options other than leveling kits for our expy's (many topics on this subject in this forum) Most recommend 2 inch rear 3 inch front. I went with 2.5 rear and 3.5 front (cheap level on ebay been running for a few years now) It will max out upper...
