What you are looking at here is inside the rear wheel well, looks like a beam on top of the frame, separated by an airbag. Connecting the frame to the cargo area of the trunk shell. OBVIOUSLY this is not a good thing.
I am wondering if anyone else has this issue, or has encountered it. Is it...
Ended up being a rubber elbow vacuum hose near center of the firewall. Amazing how something so small can cause such issues.
BTW, I kept checking my CEL to make sure nothing new popped up, and after a few days, a new one did show up. P0401 - EGR.
After replacing this hose with a $1...
Thanks again for all the info.
I have considered taking it back to the garage, but I do not think they will do anything without charging me. I almost guarantee they will take blame for the issue and just fix it. They replaced my steering gear once, and I understand this will call for an...
Maybe I should have said this in the first place, but my alternator did just die and I had a garage replace it the day before CEL came on. Is there anything in in the process of replacing the alternator that may have been unplugged or removed that may be related to this?
Thanks for all the info everyone. I did check the PCV elbow and it looks perfect.
I think I am going to try cleaning the MAF sensor first and see what happens. Is this pretty accurate info as far as the 5.4 engines go?

Hey everyone,
1999 Expedition XLT 5.4 4WD
CEL came on tonight and upon checking it came up with P0171 and P0174 which are System Too Lean Bank 1 and System Too Lean Bank 2. I have done some looking around and have come up with several things that could be affecting this.
I am hoping...

Looking for any tips or tricks on removing the steering gear.
I have a horrible leak coming from the steering gear
Need to replace it as quickly and efficiently as possible. From what I can see, the gear house is mounted here...
Is this about all there is to it...
My rear wiper was working fine, then one day it got stuck. I checked the fuses, and the one user the hood was blowen. I replaced it, blew again after using it a while. While it was working it would act as if I turned it off after every cycle. Would hesitate a bit. So I put a higher amp fuse in...
This probably is not the info you are looking for, but I figure why not.. I had a ranger once that I had to drill out the ignition. After a while I got sick of starting it with a screw driver, so I went to ford and they gave me a new ignition and 2 keys for it for about $50 if I recall...
That is what I used. Just added buttons to both front seats by the buttons to move them. The fabric is just clipped on, so it was was a fairly simple job.
That's also what I established. One thing that made sense to me, was that due to wear, using a thicker (running) oil could help reduce engine noise or rough idle. But like you said, a thicker oil for start up wont matter 30 minutes into driving. Only the last number will.
Just finished changing every last incandescent bulb to LED. Was a long and annoying process, but its done and works / looks great! I could not find much info on all this, so if anyone has any questions on what size to use, how to change colors, how to prevent blinking / half illumination etc...
Sorry for the delay! I never got a notification for this!
I purchased 3 off eBay, here is a link for them. Most of them are from china, just refine your search to US only.

I could not find these in...
I will be the first to admit, I know almost nothing about the differences of oil. I have always done my own oil changes, but always used the recommended oil. In this case, the recommended oil is 5W30 for my 99 Expedition 5.4L.
I have been doing some reading and understand the differences...
I just finished doing all my outside lights.
Click here for the eBay link to the headlight units and front turn signal units I got. I honestly was worried about them being cheap and all. But they turned out fairly nice. I did have a couple hang ups with the assemblies that I can explain if...
So I purchased a set of HID bulbs and new clear assemblies... The new assemblies have that little blocker, that I assume is to reflect the light back for more illumination. Honestly, I have no clue what to call them.. But do they need to be removed? Or do they stay in? I ask because I thought...
Thanks for all the tips everyone! I am not sure what was with the dealer I got it from. But outside of this issue, I feel I got a near perfect truck. So... Maybe I got the steal!
I went to Ford today, and they told me $279 for EACH arm!!! Wow.. I will not buy from them, especially if you all...
Was just told my trailing arms were bad... The left side worse then the right. Honestly I have never heard of these before, unless called something else. I was not quoted a price, since apparently it is a dealer only item. But I was quoted $200 for 2 hours of labor.
I came across this thread...
Changed the light color from green to blue. Not as dark as I wanted it.. But better then green in my opinion. Going to just put blue LED bulbs in it and see if that works ok... I want the red in the temperature section to remain red.
Added 2 usb ports to the dash for charging phones or what...
