It is the result of a reduced supply of oil. Oil refineries have less oil, so they are are focusing on higher-margin products. Like always, it's all about money.
I've seen posts where people have done it so it's possible, but it seems like a fairly involved project.
The 4R70 is cheaper/easier to fix, but the 6R80 is generally considered to be more robust. I have 224k on my 6R80.
This can be tough to track down. I had it happen last year and it turned out to be my front passenger door switch. At random points during the day/night, it would trigger as if the door was opening. Lights would come on, then go off. I have no idea how often this was happening, but it was...
Prior to posting, I wasn't able to find info on removing the cap - just replacing the entire mirror. When I search the exact term you used, it came up.
My RH power folding mirror has failed and I'm going to try to get from a junkyard. I have a Limited, so the back mirror cap is painted. The options are limited so I am wondering if the caps are removable (and if so, how involved it is)?
Not very detailed, but this guy gives an overview of it. Looks like a PITA (like most of these blend/mode door jobs).

221k on mine. I think the 2 biggest repairs that I've done were the intake manifold gasket and the water pump. The timing job isn't something I wish to tackle, but I would pay for it if not for the fact that the PA salt is eating her alive. I think she will rot out before the engine goes. My...
I've been expecting mine to need this work done for awhile, but at nearly 221k she's still going. The road salt has eaten up so much of the truck at this point though that I wouldn't put the money into it.
The 2-piece plugs are long gone, so removal issues are not a concern. You're not going to gain any longevity by swapping them out way before their time either. It's your nickel, but it's not a turbo and swapping them out every 30k doesn't actually accomplish anything outside of raising your cost...
Michelin Defenders are all I'll buy for my SUVs now. Great on dry/wet and I get 70k miles out of every set. Just so-so in the snow, but it doesn't snow much here anymore. The prices of them are ridiculous though. $305/ea at Sam's Club for the 20" and the rebate on a set of 4 has dropped to $70...
For comparison, I'm at just shy of 220k miles, 87 octane, original MAF, 5W-20 syn blend, standard Motorcraft oil/air filters, no fuel treatments, 87 octane and a mix of local/highway (~80 mph) driving (more local than highway) ... 16.4 mpg. All of that is to say I don't think anything you've...
Ridiculous, but not surprising. My 72 y/o mom took her Nissan to the dealer for a "free" oil change. They came back with a list of things she "had" to do and bullied her into it by telling her that her warranty could be voided if she refused. Among those items was $190 charge for a cabin air...
I don't think there's much benefit if you're using even a halfway decent fuel, but it's not going to hurt anything. Pick something with PEAs (e.g. Techron) if you want to give it a go.
+1 ... and combine that with all the extra juice modern vehicles require. My only concern at this point is the warranty. Walmart gives me free replacements for 3 years with zero hassle. Zero hassle is the key for me. I'm tired of arguing just to get what I was promised.
The Bilstein 4600s are a little firmer than stock and the 5100s are firmer than the 4600s. Generally speaking, if you're installing an off-road shock like these, you shouldn't be expecting a soft ride.
Looking at the manual for the '17 some possibles I would check for accessory power: 6, 9, 10, 34, 35, 38, 40, 46
42, 43 and 44 are all listed as "not used."
- My rear struts had to be replaced multiple times by ~110k. I ultimately replaced them with Bilstein 4600s, which are still going at 217k.
- Plugs are a non-issue on the '11. All of my COPs are original. Inspect them and if the rubber is still pliable and they are functioning, there is...
