Update on this one for someone experiencing the same thing, or stumbling upon this thread.
I had the stealership check the mounts on engine and tranny (or so they say). All checked out good. I guess the engine mounts are hydraulic so if they were bad they would be leaking? Idk.
I disconnected...
Also to add.. No big shavings, the fluid was tinted brown and I have 85k miles. There was no plug on the bottom of the pan so it appears someone has changed the fluid before. The magnet had a good amount of fine particles, but that's expected I would assume. I only burned myself slightly on the...
Ok update.. Ill never do that shit again lol. What a mess. I had tranny fluid all over myself and rocks embedded in my scalp. The hardest part was refilling the trans. I had a good suction gun but its too awkward with just jack stands. My dipstick had an A and B zone markings, so that was also...
Yup I hated it at first. I got used to it I guess. I only have trouble reading the odometer display but not sure what could possibly be done about that.
Such a lovely thread. I ended up with a new engine 6 months after I purchased my vehicle. I did a bunch of research and knew about the phasers and so I knew what to point out when taking it to the dealer. I was expecting for them to just fix the phasers and vtc silenoids, but after they got into...
Good advice. I bought a suction gun and ended up getting 8 quarts of mercon lv. I'm hoping I can fit the tube in the fill port deep enough to suck out most of the fluid prior to the pan drop. Damn dirty mess is what it looks like. I will attempt this job tomorrow. Also will be doing the rear...
I picked up some master pro 75w 140 synthetic oil to do my rear diff. Should I be concerned with specific brands or should the specs be good enough? I don't tow anything as of yet so no big concern with that at the moment.
After my mountain trip I would say the Safari tires are decent. I had one scary moment on black ice, but pushed through snow and normal ice with no issues. It was funny watching a guy spin his wheels on the same hill I just went up with ease. I have 2wd.
The thing with a two man team (if they are good) is they usually strip the truck to the frame (for FOB vehicles). Grab another frame from a junk yard and rebuild the vehicle with that. Then they sell it as a different vehicle. Since it was burned there was either something wrong with it or...
I am not up north but have faired well in various weather conditions with Kelly Safari ATR. They are very quiet and have been decent for on and off road. Ill be heading up the mountain on Friday where conditions are bad. I guess ill really find out then.
