Very cushy and comfortable. The leveling kit I had installed was the max lift I could do with the OEM magnetic dampers still retaining their functionality. The tires are a phenomenal upgrade over the highway-only all-seasons.
Technically speaking, there is a "gutter" on the inside of the cabin around the perimeter of the sunroof. This is a common design feature in vehicles with a sunroof. The gutter catches any small leaks from the perimeter seals, and channels them outside. I would check to see if perhaps your...
Thought I'd post some photos of my overland build. The wheels were upgraded to 34.3" diameter, which required some trimming of the running boards (inboard side) and wheel well liners. With the larger wheel diameter, the speedometer has about a 5mph error at 70mph (driving at 70mph, the actual...
Adding mine to the list here. This thread was instrumental in helping me make my wheel and lift choices.
2018 Expedition MAX 4x4 Platinum. My lift kit was limited to those products that are compatible with the CCD suspension on the Platinum trim. Overall wheel diameter is 34.6". There was...
Just upgraded the stock 32" wheels (2018 Platinum) to 34" wheels. Speedo reads about 5mph lower at 70mph. Has anyone had any luck using ForScan to adjust the speedometer readout? I tried changing the tire circumference from the stock 2478mm to 2735mm, but the car keeps throwing DTC codes and...
Purchased the top-tier ESP plan once our 36k warranty was nearing its end. Expy developed a coolant leak later that year. I thought I was covered, since the Premium ESP plan covers so many components, it's easier to read what's NOT covered (as the brochure read). Leather seating surfaces...
Indeed. An extended wheelbase for the Sequoia would be a winner but I don’t think they sell enough of them to offer two different platforms. Also the hybrid powertrain kills the 3rd row floor. You sit back there with your knees way up. That’s a deal breaker for me as our 3rd row is constantly...
With four kids and an uncle in the vehicle, a second row bench is a must with our family.
I’m trying to determine if I can build a 2025 Expy with a second row bench and a HO engine, but it seems like Ford is pushing captain’s chairs anytime a HO engine is selected.
Adding Stealth Performance...
I'm with you. We often have a trailer, or a hitch tray installed with a big YETI cooler. With that in place, I can never open the liftgate. In-laws have a BMW X5, and the split gate is just a smarter option.
My main gripe is with the Timberline/Tremor. I hope it's available in MAX (extended wheelbase) version. GMC Denali makes their AT4 available with two different V8 engine options, and extended wheelbase. Not sure why the Tremor/Timberline are limited to the standard wheelbase, but with four...
Another update: The transmission tech determined it was the water pump. Apparently (and this is something new I've learned), the A/T oil runs through the engine coolant heat exchanger. They essentially share a radiator. In this way, the engine coolant helps to regulate the A/T oil...
Update: After 5 weeks in the shop, the A/T tech believes the water pump might be the culprit. They've replaced the water pump (which apparently also cools the A/T). They're putting some miles on it now to see how it holds up.
I drive a 2018 Expedition with about 86k miles. My transmission started overheating and upon pulling over, leaking transmission oil. It's been in the shop for the past 5 weeks. They should have it fixed any day now.
I am the original owner and have Ford Extended Service Plan (ESP), as such...
I honestly don't even think they've taken one look at the unit. They have 20+ Expeditions waiting in line for transmission service, and only one tech doing them all. At least they gave me a brand new Explorer as a loaner. Also, happy I purchased ESP for another two years last December.
Those are good suggestions. Yes, the same dealership replaced the transmission oil, filter, and gasket last November.
However, if the transmission had too much fluid, that still wouldn't explain why it heats up to over 265F+, would it?
Well, heard an update today, two weeks later. They're down to one A/T tech, and I'm looking at potentially 4-6 more weeks.
All the transmission issues are related to the 10-speed unit. They've got about 20 Expeditions waiting in queue with A/T issues.
Thanks Ford, and the government to a...
Okay another update. Apparently they're in touch with Ford corporate, as the only 10-speed transmissions that are overheating and venting oil are the ones in the Expeditions, and not in any other models. They're telling me we're currently in a "holding pattern" until they hear back from Ford...
Just an update. A week later. They don't seem to know why or how the transmission oil pressure goes up so high. They're actively investigating. I did mention to them to check on the transmission oil cooler lines. They're looking into everything.
The truck is at 86,000 miles. Yesterday while driving on the highway, I began to notice transmission slipping in 10th gear. A few minutes later, I noticed the transmission temperature going up, and up, and up. Luckily for me, the Ford dealership is right in town, so I drove her straight...
Does anyone know the location and the part# of the ambient light sensor in 4th gen Expedition? My headlights in the past few months have been turning on and staying on throughout most of the day. I believe the ambient light sensor is faulty. I'm guessing it's the spherical protrusion in the...
