    Here's a head scratcher

$450. The vehicle was complete which helps. I got about a half dozen quotes ranging from $150-$450 and 2 were at $450.

    Here's a head scratcher

Thanks Guys... The battery was fine and we got a second opinion that was the same as the first, that it was the timing chain. So we sold it...felt like we were putting a pet down. If you ever need to get rid of a non-running vehicle, go to carbrain.com. Easiest transaction ever and...

    Here's a head scratcher

Yea that's what I'm thinking as well....after 22 years, she doesn't owe me anything. I was hoping to get another couple years out of her but at this point, I may call it good. She still has the original shocks, struts and exhaust, and the rear end which we had rebuilt a couple of years ago is...

It did initially but when the sound changed while cranking it stopped moving.

    Here's a head scratcher

Thanks riphip, I replaced the PVC at about 103K/5 years ago but is a cheap fix will check that. Most of the hoses under the hood have also been replaced which likely leaves the sensors or a BIG repair. :(

    Here's a head scratcher

I have a 1999 Expedition with the triton 5.4 and roughly 145K miles. The vehicle was running fine, no codes, no loss of power, no pinging, no rattling and wasn't idling rough. The only thing I could hear was a very faint ticking that sounded like a lifter but not as pronounced, didn't...

    1999 Expedition just went dead

Excellent, thank you!!!! We have that installed correctly and now get that wonderful "click"...it's not cranking but we have power throughout the vehicle. It now appears that it's the solenoid on the starter. In testing it, we found that there are (or in our case were) two small rubber...

    1999 Expedition just went dead

Question....just to make sure I installed the solenoid correctly, both the black and red wires connect to the bottom terminal on the soleniod, correct? When I do that, I get power to the interior and dash but nothing when I turn the key.

    1999 Expedition just went dead

Great suggestion...unfortunately, I get a reading on the volt meter with the ignition on and zero when off. Also found online where someone had chaffing on the main power line where it ran under the AC hose...not that either. :(

    1999 Expedition just went dead

OK Folks, I'm stuck (physically and mechanically).... I have a 1999 Expedition 5.4 4WD that is dead. Car was running fine, came back to the house turned if off...no issue. Went back to start the vehicle, turned the key, got the customary ding, ding, ding, started to turn over and nothing...
