    After market struts/ shocks

I had one each front and rear replaced under 3/36 warranty. Now another front is leaking and not covered under extended warranty, dealer wants $600. I have never done shocks myself, any recommendations? On a 1-10 scale of difficulty? Thanks.

Does anyone else really hate the OEM tires?

If you have a 4wd Expedition the window sticker may say it comes with AT tires. Mine did not, it came with the Primacy all season and I made the dealer put on All Terrain, Goodyear Wrangler with Kevlar.

    2018 Front Shocks

I had one front and one rear replaced yesterday, 2018 with 10,000 miles. Both were leaking oil and covered under warranty so I purchased an extended warranty while I was there as I can see the other two may not last long either. I noted a sticker on both that said to keep away from heat as they...

Had to replace rear shocks in the strut

I had my 2018 in for service on Thursday and asked them to check the shocks before the warranty is up and sure enough the driver side rear was leaking. Only 10K miles so now I'm considering an extended warranty from Ford. They have an eight year 36,000 mile Premium Care warranty that sounds good...

    Replacement tires

Check your window sticker if you still have it, the 4wds are supposed to come with A/Ts.

    Disappointing 4WD performance on snow.

My advise is to check the window sticker and make sure you are getting what you are paying for. Our 2018 4x4 stated it came with AT tires and actually had all season highway tires. I made sure to point that out before the deal and after complaining at several levels they put on Goodyear Wrangler...

    Premium fuel for longevity?

I've used BJ's club regular 87 since day on with no issues. It's probably better to use a top tier fuel and if I was having issues I would use a Mobil or Exxon. But I'm a cheap SOB, sorry.

Front & rear windshield washer NOT?

My washer fluid spray stopped coming out a few months ago. You could hear the pump working but no juice. I found and disconnected the lines and sprayed a little compressed air into the tank until I heard bubbles. I reattached the lines and it started working again. Last week the same thing...

Toyo Open Country Tires vs Goodyear Wrangler Adventure Kevlar Tires

I can't say about the Toyo's but I do have the Goodyear Wranglers on now and they are a lot better than the Michelin Primacy All Season tires that were on originally. The Wranglers are ATs and are very good in the snow yet provide a very comfortable ride year round in the Expedition.

    Undercoating?

I went with RustKote just on the bottom, the rest is aluminum. It covered the whole bottom including all the brake lines, wiring, and fittings with no mess in the engine compartment or the exhaust system. $59.95, dripped for 2 days. I plan to do this annually which will maintain the warranty.

    Stock XLT tires...not impressed.

My 2018 XLT 4WD came with the Michelins and I showed the sales manager the window sticker that said A/T. I ended up with Goodyear Wrangler Adventures with Kevlar. I had to pay for install but I get life time rotations. They are an improvement off road and on packed snow. Note: I was able to sell...

Newbie 4x4 question: Intelligent vs. Automatic 4X4

I purchased a regular 4x4 as I could not find a 2018 black FX4 in my area. My Expedition has two indicators 2H and 4A, the 4A - 4x4 Auto provides electronic controlled four-wheel drive with power delivered to the front and rear wheels as required (traditional all wheel drive). The FX4 has four...

    Removing front air dam?

I completed my install of the transfer case and two front skid plates. I left the transmission cover on for now and I also did not install the fuel tank cover. I based my order off of scottdm's list and had some parts to return, I circled the qty I returned on the far left of my parts list...

    Removing front air dam?

I took mine off two weeks ago. All the screws and clips came off easy, I dropped the air dam and put all the hardware back in the upper section just in case I want to put it back on. After 500 miles, mostly highway, no change in mpg. I ordered the FX skid plates based on scottdm's list plus (2)...

Adding skid plates to 2018 Limited with tow package?

I recently removed my front air dam as was able to get under and look around. I got the impression it was very unprotected and plan on looking into this much further and want to thank everyone who contributed to the thread.

What Octane are you running in your Platinums?

My experience is limited to my 2007 Mustang GT which had a Diablo Sport tune and Ford Racing cold air intake. I had to use 93 or else it knocked. I was told that the tune un-retarded the timing. I am more than willing to try a few tank fill's of 93 and see the results. Thank you for your comments.

What Octane are you running in your Platinums?

Unless you change your ignition timing you should just use the regular 87 octane gas. When you re-tune your engine trying to get more HP you can add to the compression ratio. Higher octane gas only stops the pre-ignition or knock that happens when higher compression causes an explosion in the...

New Tires - Michelin Defender P265/70R17

I wish that Ford would have put the Defenders on the 2018 4wd's instead of the Michelin Primacy AS Highway tire. They are horrible in the snow.
