    Bigger trailer

DangerDoug, I have a 2017 Limited that I bought as an upgrade to a 2011 Limited, and I have a travel trailer with similar specs. It is not a workable combination. I picked up the trailer in early 2020 about 3 hours away, and knew on the ride home it wouldn't work....the tongue weight was too...

When do you use the door code?

Long answer to a short question….on a fishing trip into the backwoods a few years back I forgot the customary steaks in a cooler in my Expedition. I suffered endless abuse from my buddies when this was revealed…..later that day I met a hiker who was headed out and used him to get a message...

    Hey everyone! Travel trailer question..

There is a big difference between towing, and towing comfortably. Had a 2011 Limited towing a 24' Jayco under 6K lbs. Towing was OK, a little squat but put 1000's of miles together including a 4K mile road trip a few years ago. Upgraded to a 2018 Limited for lower mileage vehicle and Ecoboost...

    2016 Expedition XLT EL

Eric, Have another beer, and formulate a different plan! Last year I "upgraded" from an '11 Platinum to a '17 platinum. Both with the full HD tow package, and a travel trailer @ about 6K lbs. While the Ecoboost has more power to tow, the '11 did a much beer job overall. New one sags more, with...

    2017 Expedition Rear Suspension Upgrade?

So my WDH was the same set up on my 2011 Expy as on the new one. I have made some adjustments with the newer vehicle but didn't seem to matter much. I had the trailer guy check it as well. My take on all of this is that the OEM "load leveling shocks" that are on the 2017 are crap. Seems to be...

    2017 Expedition Rear Suspension Upgrade?

I have not weighed it, and since I am trading it in I don't care.....I had a 2011 expedition that rode better pulling the same trailer. Total weight on the new trailer is similar so I am hoping the tongue is as well, but I still need to improve on this. I love driving this Expedition, but hate...

    2017 Expedition Rear Suspension Upgrade?

bobmbx...I think they are pretty close to even, but I'll check this weekend. Good or no? As for the Sumo Springs...I put those spacers in about a month ago. I moved my trailer home last week-end to clean it out to trade it in. It was only a few miles so I didn't use the WDH, but I couldn't...

    2017 Expedition Rear Suspension Upgrade?

I am still looking for a solution to my sagging rear end! The OEM manual load leveling shocks do nothing for my situation. I tow a trailer with maybe 600 lbs. of tongue weight. I have a weight distribution hitch and the full towing package, and my back end squats terribly. While still under...

    Tow Package Question

I had a 2011 that I added a brake controller to....the controller came with the needed pigtail so I never used the one that came with the Expedition. Pretty easy. I did end up upgrading the struts for towing as well.

    2019 Fx4 - Correct towing Capacity?

I don't know about the '19, but I have a '17 Limited with tow package, 3.73 and the works. One "Upgrade" on mine are the Load Leveling shocks. Avoid them if at all possible. I have problems with the back end sagging as the shocks fail to level with a 6K lb trailer/approx. 600lbs tongue weight...

Looking for replacement for 2017 with Load Leveling Suspension

I have the factory LL shocks on a 2017 Limited. Rides great with no trailer, but I tow a 6000lb travel trailer with about 600lb tongue weight. These shocks are woefully inadequate. Even with the weight distribution hitch I can't get a good ride. I previously towed the same trailer with a 2011...

Zac, have you installed your shocks yet? What's the outcome?

First tow with the 18 Expedition max w/max tow package 8500lb trailer

I am curious as to what suspension is on the rear? I have a 17 Limited with what are supposed to be load leveling shocks...and they dont level anything. Plenty of power but need to get the rear end up, even with weight distribution hitch

    2016 Suspension Question

The original window sticker lists the load leveling shocks as an installed option, but I have not verified that that is actually what is on my vehicle. Shocks have a FoMoCo sticker with numbers EL14-18W002-NNA. 894104000740. Made in Mexico

    2016 Suspension Question

I'm curious to know your outcome. I have a 2017 Limited that has the factory load leveling suspension. I replaced a 2011 Limited that towed well, but I wanted a newer model. I have a 5 year old travel trailer (spec is about 6000 lbs and about 550 tongue weight) I bought new and have towed for...
