    The answer for the version of Sync 3.x 3.0 is for 2018 and below (some 2019's) 3.3 and above is for 2019 and above (but not all) If you are at 3.0, right now that is as far as it's going, unless Ford changes how that is setup... If you are at 3.2 or 3.3, you will get newer updates as they come...

    What most any user should do, especially if the vehicle has a warranty, is take it back to get fixed. They might not have the part in stock, which I wouldn't expect them to have, and a backorder from the manufacture is a PITA too... If it's under a warranty, it's free to get it fixed... and...

    I've read a lot of users with iPhones 2018 and forward are having issues with Sync 3 3.0 ... Haven't seen any issues with 3.3, but unfortunately only late 2019 and later units can get 3.3

    yea.. Odd how BT and Sync 3 don't work well together all the time... Master Reset, and re-pairing fixes it... but you shouldn't have to... 8)

    Hehe... love it when you see the ones where... I have a 12 year old car, things stopped working, what shall I do??... Uh, pay to fix it, or trade up. 8) Yes, a warranty is there in case of bad things happening... yes it's a PITA , but be glad you have the warranty. 8)

    The settings they are talking about would be the boot screen and shut off screens... and the basic look of the User Interface... but to get backgrounds, you need the unit from a 2019+ running 3.3 for that... OR, hope that someday Ford will allow for 3.4+ to install on a 2017-18 unit.

    Right now, only Sync 2 can do that, and Sync 3 3.3 (2019 units)

    599 is a rip off, if you want to take the time, you can get the same unit for less than 200, sometimes 75 from car-part.com, i.e. a wrecking yard... that is where they got it.

    So to continue the thread.. I just got my APIM with Nav to replace my APIM no nav, and it's at 3.0 19205 , got it with 2.2

    Ok, that makes much more sense, so they replaced it with an APIM from a 2019 , so you legitimatly have a unit that can do more than the old ones. Background colors is one of them... 3.3 is out now, 3.4 would be out real soon. 8) You should high Five them, they don't normally do that.

    You might want to go back at ask. It will matter down the road for any updates, or warrenty issues... more for you to know , but I'm sure those of us might want to know. 8)

    OK, good enough, this means they did one of 2 things, knew how to upgrade you to 3.3 on the stock APIM from a 2016, OR replaced the APIM to a 2019 unit (as well as the USB ports) were you having issues with the APIM? (just want to know in case they did the replacment)

    so there is no confusion, 3.0_17xxx or 18xxx or 19xxx is for vehicles up to 2018, usually 3.3+ is for 2019+ vehicles.... THere Are some APIMs that are coming out of China that have been modified to have 3.3 on them. I personally would not trust those... but that is me. For 3.0, if the site...

    I'd be interested in what you did that allowed 3.3 on a 2016 unit. Typically only 2019+ can do 3.3+ First off, was the Unit OEM to the 2016 vehicle? Or did you upgrade it?
