(nice unit)...their application guide indicates it does not fit 2nd gen expo. How did you get the unit to fit? any customer modifications needed? Thanks
I'm not an expert in this area , but if your getting power the the compressor clutch and it won't engage, would that point to the magnetic clutch coil? You mentioned that it smelled burnt....which maybe the insulation that got overheated/ burned out from a short or ground in the clutch coil?
My '04 Expo with 240K miles is in need of front end ball joint replacement on the LCA's. I'm thinking to replace entire lower control arms as they come with new bushings vs. just replacing the old ball joints and reusing old bushings that are probably worn. I also plan to the replace the upper...
UniqueTll...did you ever get your issue resolved? After I changed my front pads from stock ford to akobono I had a more soft/mushy brake pedal at standstill, but when driving, the brakes work good. I can even get the ABS to activate on dry road when i slam on brakes at 50mph
Gain-Mod...I searched the internet , I cant find anyone that sells new ABS pump (OEM or aftermarket)..seems to be a discontinued part. Original part was manufactured by Ate .When did you get yours replaced?
I checked the vacuum hose at the check valve ...getting ~20 in Hg at idle. The check valve is new (came with the new brake booster.) Just to be sure ,I pulled it out and checked it ...only draws air 1 way...seems to be working fine.
Without the engine running, brake pedal has some firmness...

I also did replace the brake booster (Motorcraft). The pedal is soft with the engine not running , but it gets a lot softer with the engine running from the brake booster assist, which then allows me to push the pedal all the way to the floor...
Soft brake pedal sinking to floor on my '04 4x2 EB 4.6L with ~240K miles. I replaced the master cylinder (performed bench bleed before installing MC) and then bled all 4 calipers 2 times with pressure bleeder...nice clear fluid came out with no air bubbles at all calipers....no change to soft...
