    Items for inspection

Before I bought my 18 Limited in May, I'd been looking online for months. Carvana and Vroom always had 1 or 2 cars listed. I only looked at them for a price reference, there's no way I'd spend that type of money on something i hadn't seen, even though they have a 7 day return (how does that work...

    "NO KEY DETECTED" flashing

That thought had occurred to me, lol!

    "NO KEY DETECTED" flashing

Does wrapping the spare key in foil block the radio signal from the key? I wouldn't think tin foil is thick or heavy duty enough to do that, then again, it was amazing how a gob of foil on rabbit ears improved TV reception (God, I'm old!). I might have to try this tomorrow just out of curiosity!

Update all versions of Ford Sync 3 to the latest Sync 3.4

I bought the Forscan device, so now I need to purchase the Forscan software (I think?), I'm planning on trying some things out this weekend. Want to try little things first (double honk, etc) before tackling Sync!

    Rain noise

I've checked that they're turned on several times. My very first time in the car wash, I turned them off, knowing from my Edge. I'll have to check the sensor. My Edge never required them to be on any sensitivity. If it misted or poured, it activated them accordingly. I'll have to re-read the...

Dash coin holder to wireless charging phone mount.

I really like the looks of this setup, but functionality-wise, the phone is rather unusable in this location, isn't it? I ordered the phone clip and holder from Proclip, Ford Center Dash Mount Extra Strength, and the extra large holder for Samsung S20 Ultra in an Otterbox case. It cost $110...

    Rain noise

Being in Phoenix, where it never rains, guess this is something I'll rarely need to worry about! On the other hand, I'm hoping for rain to see if my rain- sensing wipers work since they don't activate in the carwash, like my Edge did.

    Temp Disable Automatic Engine Shutdown?

My 18 Limited is 11/17 build, I don't have that option either.

    AVS in-channel window vents

I was going to get the Weathertech but oddly, they only have front window sets, not sure why they don't have rear. I bought the molded Weathertech mudflaps and they're great. From AVS, I ordered the ventshades and a hood deflector. The hood deflector arrived in a smashed box, the deflector was...

    AVS in-channel window vents

Utmeep, you were right! On all 4 ventshades, I had one end in incorrectly (the B pillar? Back of front windows, front of back windows). I was able to just pull the plastic tab out and put it in between the outer door frame and rubber gasket, now all 4 windows work. Thanks a lot!

    AVS in-channel window vents

I'll have to check when I go out to the car. I thought I followed the instructions exactly but perhaps I missed something.

    AVS in-channel window vents

Has anyone tried using the in-channel window vents? I bought some AVS in-channel vents for my '18 Limited and, as I feared, I can't raise the windows without pulling the ventshade out so the glass gets by the plastic inserts. After I installed them, I didn't lower the windows for 5 days, hoping...

anyway to add front camera to an XLT?

My '16 Explorer Limited had a front camera, my '18 Expy Limited does not, and I REALLY miss that camera, especially since the Expedition is so much bigger and I'm not quite used to where the front end stops and the garage door begins! The collision system beeps help but I don't entirely trust...

Haha, I don't need a giant banner, nothing tacky, that's why I was looking for something OEM.

    4th Gen Wiring Diagram?

Is your detector wired into the rear view mirror? I'm just about to buy the MirrorTap for my Escort, tired of the lighter cord dangling across my Sync display - just wondering if the MirrorTap will cause the detector to power cycle.

Of course, the one time I didn't search the forums there are other posts! D'oh!

    Gas mileage

Wondered what type of gas mileage fellow '18+ Expy owners have been getting. I've had my '18 Limited 4x4 non-Max for just over 1 month, mostly city driving or very short freeway runs, drive 34 miles/day to/from work on 2wd and I'm barely getting 15mpg, normally around 14.5-14.9mpg (on new...

    4x4 emblem

Well, in the Phoenix metro area of Maricopa County, we love our required gas blends of summer and winter fuel (sarcasm). Similar to California, but different formulations. Gotta say, the skies around Phoenix have been so much clearer during Covid lockdown, so much less traffic.

    4x4 emblem

I like to advertise what I paid for! I wanted a 4x4, paid extra for it, and I want everyone to know, lol! Just the uppity snob in me, I guess.

    4x4 emblem

My 16 Explorer was Flexfuel and 4wd (4wd, not AWD, I had the option for 2wd or 4wd just like my Expy) and it just had the Flexfuel emblem, not 4wd. I've never understood the Flexfuel option - in AZ there is no gas before 87 octane. I suppose it's available elsewhere.

    OEM glass or "dealer glass"?

Ceramic tint is better than regular tinted film (and much more expensive). It has a lifetime warranty against fading, cracking, bubbling. It blocks something like 90% of UV rays and the majority of heat (which tinted film does not). For front windshield, it does come in 0% tint so there is no...

    Perimeter Plus

I haven't noticed a motion detector setting in the menu, but since the alarm went off from some dried leaves blowing in through the vented sunroof, I know it works!

    Perimeter Plus

I just checked, no, there are 2 sensors in the overhead console. Funny, my alarm just went off with it parked in my driveway. I have the sunroof vented, it's a windy day, and a tiny bit of dried leaves got blown in through the sunroof! Touchy motion detector! I guess it's good to know it works...
