OBD 2 port intermittently working with Scan tool

Almost certainly the $100 scan tool at fault than the $50,000 vehicle.

2018 expedition headlight assembly ballast replacement

Good info @HILLY - drivers I've heard of for LED, but not ballasts. I wonder why they elected to intentionally use the wrong term.

2023 Expy Ltd. Driver side door power buttons stop working intermittently

Maybe the fuse is loose and wiggling into and out of contact? Or maybe the fuse burnt out partially, and there's a small contact still happening? Best change it and see if that resolves the issue. It's certainly the cheapest thing to try first!

2023 Expy Ltd. Driver side door power buttons stop working intermittently

Have you checked all the fuses are seated correctly? There's 2 fuse boxes. One under the hood, and one under the dash. The passenger compartment fuse box, fuse 23, controls: - Power window switch. - Power mirror switch. - Left-hand front door zone module. Sure sounds like all the things...

2018 expedition headlight assembly ballast replacement

But... LEDs don't use ballasts... HID bulbs do, but not LEDs. You have a 2018 Platinum? That came as standard with LED headlights. And they all came with LED running lights. Your vehicle doesn't have any ballasts in it. Edit: I just checked, and no gen 4 comes with HID. Only LED and...

Cup Holder Rattle - Only When Cup Present

Watching this video, makes me think that some of the buttons on the bottom are loose. That's why slight downward pressure on the drink vessel will stop the rattle. He has a previous video showing how to remove the cupholders, but it's a 2018 and the trim looks different to my 2020 Plat...

    Approach Detection - MY2020

When you approach the truck with the key in your pocket, the power running boards deploy. Puddle (and some other) lights come on etc. To my mind, our Expedition knows I'm standing near it with the key, because when I touch the door handle it unlocks the truck. I can't imagine an extra sensor...

APIM shows no version or build number

Flashing something that is not working properly is a sure-fire path to permanently bricking it. You need to get it working the way it is before you do anything as potentially destructive as flashing the firmware. What happens when you scan the truck with Forscan? Does the APIM respond and...

    Seatbelt extenders

Certain trims do - Platinum for sure. Depends on how the logic has been programmed for these airbag seatbelts. None of us can test this non-destructively. Only the Ford engineers know for sure. If I had to hazard a guess, the risk of not firing the airbag for a belt that is buckled, is...

Did all these problems appear before or after you tried forcing the updates?

Integrated front wheel hub 4wd grinding $20 upgrade. “Save your front wheel hubs easily”

Checked my 2020 Platinum yesterday and it has the blue check valve hose. I wonder if that was there from new, or if they swapped it out during a service...

    Approach Detection - MY2020

We have a 2020 Expedition Platinum. A friend has the 2019 Navigator (Reserve I think). On his truck, he has approach detection. Is there a way to enable that on ours in Forscan, or is there a module on the Lincoln that isn't on the Expedition? I always thought of them as pretty much the...

    2021 limited Rear cabin heat/air

Simply not true. Our 2020 roof vents in the 2nd and 3rd rows push heat out, not just cool air. The rear climate controls too have a button to direct air to the top only, which in the case of heating, would include warm air. What the tech is probably doing is poorly describing/understanding...

    Rear/Mirror Defrost for Longer...

Has anyone figured out a way to make the rear window and mirror defrost stay on longer? It seems to stay on for maybe 15 minutes, then it turns itself off. Up here in the frozen north, that's just not long enough. I'll look back and the window is frosted up again. Is there a Forscan setting...

No, they’re all pretty strong springs in there. None have given out.

Cup Holder Rattle - Only When Cup Present

I have the service manual, so when I find time I'm going to pop that section out and have a look at the springs underneath. Need to be careful though because the emergency key dock is under the front cup holder.

    Won't start in negative temps

Here's the procedure to put the Expedition into Neutral when there's a no-start condition. Edit: Just re-read that your engine won't turn over. Tow guy should have dollys for the rear wheels.

    Seatbelt extenders

The Platinum trim second row has airbags built into the actual seatbelt - the chest portion. It's likely they can't be extended whilst ensuring the airbag would explode open in the right position and potentially causing injury to the occupant.

Wiper Position After Recall - Heated Wiper Park

Not the updated part number. The old ones, yes. The old ones were recalled because under certain conditions the teeth would strip off. The new wiper arms have a single fixed positioning spline/lug. They can only slot into the receiver in a single position. They can not be adjusted by...

    Power running board stuck

My passenger side power running board is a pain in the ass. It seizes up from grime and dirt. Now it's seizing up due to the cold. This current cold snap (-45c / -49f) has seen it freeze in the open position. The drivers side however never skips a beat. This is the video I used on YouTube...

Cup Holder Rattle - Only When Cup Present

Does anyone else's cup holders rattle only when there's a coffee cup, bottle etc in them? Some gentle downwards pressure on the object stops the rattle, but it starts again as soon as I let go. It appears to be the spring loaded fingers that hold the object still. I think. Anyone found a...

Wiper Position After Recall - Heated Wiper Park

I had the recall done on our 2020 Expedition last summer. This winter I noticed that after the recall work, the wipers sit higher up on the windshield than before. The result is that the wipers are now 1 - 2 inches above the heated wiper park tracks in the windshield. With the arctic temps...

    Folding Cargo Liners

I have the Ford ones, and then the WeatherTech ones over the top (for the trunk) for winter. And also the WeatherTech ones for the front footwells, and the H shape single piece mat for both the 2nd and 3rd rows. The trunk one is ok - just slides in over the top of the Ford one. Holds water...
