What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Bought some 2022 18" FX4 takeoffs on Ebay for 620 all in - they were brand new and came with TPMS, which was nice. Took them to Costco and had them install my winter tires BLIZZAK DM-V2 P275/65R18 114R. Still need to do a cut off on the rear so the center caps fit, but other than that pretty...

How many labor hours dealerships charge to replace 2022/2023 engine thermostat?

Should be, but aren't. EVs are nowhere near as reliable as ICE vehicles currently. https://nypost.com/2023/11/29/business/electric-vehicles-less-reliable-than-gas-powered-cars-trucks-consumer-reports/

Aggressive Tune absolutely Destroys 3.5 Ecoboost

@LokiWolf He did say it had 1000 injectors and was running e85, and the literal name of the tune was "Agressive Tune" hehe

    Transmission Cooler for 2018 Expedition/Navigator 4x4

Yep, and that fits right in with the heat discussion in that article I posted.

    Transmission Cooler for 2018 Expedition/Navigator 4x4

He's talking about the engine, not the trans. Yes agreed lower engine temp causes more emissions (NOx), and the slower time to regular operating temp from cold start could make a minute mpg difference. Ideally the trans would have a seperate cooling system from the engine but they are tied in...

    Transmission Cooler for 2018 Expedition/Navigator 4x4

I've never heard that. Mine runs fine at 180 - 190. I have the SPD 180 thermostat. I might switch to the 170 to get the trans a little lower.

    Evap System Mon

The hard codes, (actually called Permanent codes) can't be cleared with a scan tool. That's what I meant when I said I could not remove them. Only getting those monitors to complete will do it. I've had code readers for 25 years and I do all of my own work as well. I just haven't worked on a...

    Evap System Mon

Wow, every time I think CA or CARB has reached a new level of unsurpassed idiocy I find I'm wrong again. Thanks for sharing all of that info! I just learned about "permanent" codes last week after I swapped new port injectors in and I left one of the fuel rail electrical connectors was not...

    New Sequoia vs 22+ Expy

"Titles" of parts are wrong all the time - they get created when the part is first made and they don't update the title as subsequent model years come out. Look at the fitment section on that page and you will see it includes 22/23 models including the Timberline. Now it still might not fit...

    Catch can saga

Yeah that story stinks. To my knowledge plugged cats don't cause misfires, they mimic low fuel pressure or trans / power issues. Here's an appropriate video from FordTechMakuloco discussing getting ripped off because an auto shop blamed plugged cats, and he talks about symptoms of plugged...

Help! What can a Timberline Tow

That's a lot of trailer for an Expedition. You'd be a bit over the specified maximum limits. Will it tow it? Sure it will tow it. But not with ease, that's a Super Duty level trailer imo.

iPhone overheats and shuts down while in charging pad

I use this Bulletpoint motorized wireless charging cradle on my Note 9, works flawlessly, and doesn't get hot. But I use a thin case so wireless charging works well enough. The console design on these cars is atrocious. I can't believe they took the most important, most used space in the car...

Ford finally fixed all of the crazy issues they caused with Sync 3

I'm sure this is an idiotic question (because expecting any secretive, legacy company like Ford to behave appropriately is just a bridge too far) but do they publish any version notes that shows what changes or fixes are present in a given version?

How much under MSRP should we negotiate for a 2023 Expedition Platinum or King Ranch?

Whatever you're going to do, I wouldn't dilly dally. As soon as the UAW strike hits inventories will start to dwindle and prices will go up. A total strike might only go for 90 days but if they target strike and just shut down say, the transmission plants, it could go on for much longer.

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

Thanks for those pics and the link! Letters ordered, and I'm heartened to see that a single amp big enough to power everything fits in that spot and that there is lots of space behind the dash. I wasn't sure and I didn't want to give up both spaces in the floor.

    NGK Ruthenium Plugs?

They are the best you can buy for the Ecoboost, most people running tunes are using those. Usually gapped at .028 (not sure that's necessary at stock power) Put some nickel anti seize on when installing and they're less likely to stick over the long haul.

What Have You Done to Your 4th Gen This Week?

@rayayayayayayayay Nice work! Did you wrap the mirrors with vinyl, if so were you able to get it done in one piece? How did you get the letters white on the back? Where did you install the new amp, got any pics? Thanks!
