    So sad no controller

the key is, the Integrated Brake COntroller was only installed on cars with option 536, whihc is the HD Tow package. On most packages, HD Tow is optional.

fwiw, this is the 2019 order guide... its a bit torturous to see how its included in Limited Stealth (303A).

    '24 add brake controller

huh. I see from https://dealerimages.dealereprocess.com/image/upload/v1700240147/2024_Expedition_ocygvj.pdf that option 536, heavy duty tow with integrated brake controller, was an option in 2024 for all versions, including Limited, and King Ranch. It was included in the 2019 Limited Stealth...

bike rack vs backup proximity alarm

if I have my hitch rack on my 2019 Expedition Limited, it immediately alarms when I put it in reverse, because the proximity detectors trigger. I thought I could turn this off via the dashboard menus, but I sure can't find any such setting?

    '24 add brake controller

I'd probably use a Tekonsha Prodigy P3, as the installation is simple, the wiring is simple, and you don't have to mess around with reprogramming a half a dozen different control units. believe me, you definitely want something with a manual brake override in emergency conditions, I had to use...

5.4 triton vs the 3.5 Ecoboost?

early ecoboost 3.5's have a cam phaser issue. They didn't redesign the phasers until circa 2022 or 2023, so even if the phasers were replaced before the new ones were introduced, you're likely to have to do it again. Its a very expensive job, I just did it to my 2019, done by a quality...

Bluetooth car play for sync 3

I use an AAWireless with Android Auto, and it works better than any other I've tried. I see there new version supports Carplay too. one feature I really like is, if you have two phones bound to it (say, yours and your spouse), you can push the button on it to switch phones...

    '23-'24 Questions...Looking to buy

nope, no opening rear side windows on the 4Gs... just the door windows. and afaik, the only sunroof is the panoramic roof, which I'd rather not have, but its bundled with all the fancier trim packages. re swapping for 18" wheels... if the wheels came from a F150, you have to trim about 1/2"...

2022–2024 Expedition Limited/MAX buyer advice (HD Tow required, winter driving, prefer physical HVAC)

get the regular if you don't expect to need the 3rd row often, and if you want to be able to easily parallel park in a regular parking space. I do agree the larger tank would be nice if you tow, but I've got about 20,000 miles of towing a 5000 lb camp trailer on mine with the regular tank, and...

2022–2024 Expedition Limited/MAX buyer advice (HD Tow required, winter driving, prefer physical HVAC)

FWIW, *all* expeditions have the class IV hitch reciever and 4/7 wire harness & connector. HD Tow adds the integrated brake controller, 3.73 final drive, 2 speed transfer case with eLSD, backup assist (which I never got working)

    '23-'24 Questions...Looking to buy

According to the 2022 sales brochure, in 2022, you only got the HD Tow and 3.73 final drive with a 4x4, and all 4x4's have it. In 2019 (mine), 4x4 and HD Tow were separate options, but the only 2019 HD Tows I found on the used market were Stealth. Every year is a different mix, YMMV. Oh...

2022–2024 Expedition Limited/MAX buyer advice (HD Tow required, winter driving, prefer physical HVAC)

I dunno if I said this already, but my '19 Limited Stealth 4x4 came with 22" wheels and CCD, and I immediately swapped them for 18" wheels, 22K+ miles later, including a LOT of towing of my Escape 21, I'm still really happy with the 18's. huh, from the 2022 catalog I previously linked, that...

2022–2024 Expedition Limited/MAX buyer advice (HD Tow required, winter driving, prefer physical HVAC)

I only have the 2022 sales brochure, this is the options page. huh, I don't see HD Tow on there at all. Yet, the 2022 Ford Towing Guide says its option 536. https://www.ford.com/cmslibs/content/dam/brand_ford/en_us/brand/cpo/pdf/2022_RV_Trailer_Towing_Guide.pdf (on page 40) OH, 3.73 final...

    errors up the wazoo.

SHop found wood rat nests under the battery + fuse panel trays, and under the intake manifold. they found a handful of chomped wires including canbus to the engine control module, spliced them back, and its starting, yeah. they want to replace the main carpet as there's rodent debris under...

    Rear Hatch Light Upgrade?

pretty sure all the lighting in a gen 4, like my 2019, is LED already (*). The one thing I like least about my 2019 Limited is that the interior is black on black, which makes it a big light trap (*) - I can't verify this right now, because my Expy is at the shop due to wood rats having fun...

Hmm. followed that, pushed start with no brake, then pressed the brake pedal as hard as I can (it hardly moves), and then pushed the throttle to the floor, the gear shift knob is locked in P and won't turn. BUT. once I get a crew of big dudes here, who can help me push my trailer out of...

I'm gonna round up a couple big dudes, and someone with a pickup truck, so I can back my ~4500 lb camper trailer out after replacing its jack foot with a jack wheel. The borrowed truck will let me then move the trailer to a suitable parking place. once its out of the way, then a tow truck...

22-24 Steering Softened? anybody? Forscan setting?

for road condtions, my wife's Mercedes 4Matic Wagon has full time AWD that is, I think, 70-30 or 60-40 rear-front loaded, and is the most incredibly well planted car I've ever driven on all sorts of mostly paved surfaces. There's no selection of fancy modes, its always AWD, although I *think*...

its a 2 year old top quality battery (a Deka Intimidator AGM). it was NOT deeply discharged, as the dashboard etc turned on without any 'brownout' before I put it on the charger.
