    I asked the same question at ford parts counter. it seems ford has 2 wiring harnesses for truck body (lights, mirrors, running boards) . so if truck did not come with retractable running boards it does not have wiring available, so you would have to retro wire them like an aftermarket unit...

    I started this thread by saying I might be dumb... but i gotta say i don't remember READING ANYWHERE that... the vehicle has to be RUNNING to change certain modules. So before attempting IPC changes start the engine. Hopefully my painful experience will save someone else the frustration.

    the adapter does have switch and i tried it in borh positions. I purchased a 1yr license after the 2 mos expired (because it was easier than reloading every 2 mos). I downloaded the windows version of Forscan 3 mos ago but have not checked for update. Thanks for you assistance!

    when I try to write the change it starts but stops and I get 2 error messages: the vehicle conditions are incorrect, and service procedure has been terminated. I am thinking it might be the POS cheapo obdii adapter? does this sound right? I already ordered an OBDLinkEX as replacement.

    I have set Daytime Running Lights and the lights knob set for Auto, so I never touch it. I always have lights... I don't need or want those BIG GREEN indicators always on. Just a preference.

    Glad you were given these running boards! I have been looking for some but so far the average price has been $1600 for a pair, and this does not include waring harness or module. I tried some online junkyard and all I found were either very unreputable companies (per reviews and BBB complaints)...

    Dimmed interior rear view mirror

    One productive post deserves another... my interior rear view mirror is dimmed all the time. Can someone tell me what is the default mode: dimmed or non-dimmed. If it can't be fixed (?) I would prefer it to be non-dimmed so it is easier to use it during the day. Can I disconnect a wire? thx g
