    '24 ~1500mi review vs my '19

The maintenance cost difference is minor on the 3.0 vs gasser, not like the bigger diesels. Again the actual cost of the engine varies on trim so hard to give a good answer there, but it’s nothing like $12k cost in the heavy duty pickups. Averaging 4-6mpg better so far than the Expedition. So in...

Yeah GMs packages are strange, for instance on the AT4 ticking the Duramax box automatically adds option packages that it doesn’t do on other trims which makes it a lot more expensive option. On a High Country it’s a $600 premium over the 6.2 but on a Premier it’s $5k cheaper than the 6.2. GM...

Yep I get that and it doesn’t fit everyone’s use case, we have a different use case that involves putting a bunch of miles on every year. We live 20 miles from the nearest Walmart and 60 from the nearest Taco Bell if that puts things in perspective.

No it’s not. The only full-size GM SUV you can’t get the LZ0 in is the Escalade. It’s actually more available than it was before starting in 2025 as you can get it in Z71 and AT4 trims.

Fair enough, but the fuel economy of the 3.0 Duramax is hard to beat. Definitely the best engine GM currently offers in the full size SUVs. Again, hope Ford gets their crap together because the Expedition could be really competitive if they put the effort in.

    2026 Order Guide

Wow glad we went with a Yukon XL AT4 w the 3.0 Duramax. The ride and fit and finish is night and day better than our 23 Limited Max. Only way I would buy an expedition is with CCD and now they’ve made it hard to get. Also hell no on the 24” wheels, the ride is already awful on 22s.

    '24 ~1500mi review vs my '19

We unfortunately left the Expedition family just recently due to quality issues on our 23 Limited Max. Tons of interior squeaks and rattles some due to improper installation or lack of grease on latches. Also a front end vibration that tires and a full rebuild of the differential did not...

Our teeth are rattling out of our heads...

We have a Limited 502a so interior is nearly identical to a platinum, except for the the seats which I have no complaints about. The plastic components used on the cupholder assembly and center console are awful and a number of people have issues with noise. Headliner rattles and grab handle...

Our teeth are rattling out of our heads...

The Expeditions have vibration and ride issues, there’s quite a few complaints about it and tires don’t solve the issue. They’ve got something else going on and it seems to be much worse on 22-24 models. How an F-150 with similar payload and an old school leaf spring rear suspension can have a...

What is the optimal oil change interval?

Anywhere from 6k -8k for us. Lots of highway miles (easy miles). Over 60k on a 2023 Limited Max already. These newer oils are much better than the old stuff. But it depends on your usage. If you tow and are in the boost a lot I would say 5k tops since since the 3.5s start to get fuel dilution...

Crinkling “chrome” trim bezel on center console

Ours is doing it too. The center console is made out of disappointingly cheap materials. A high touch area like that should have higher quality materials.

Bummer: 2025 has a pathetic payload rating

The GVWR is your legal weight rating along with the GAWR. The yellow payload sticker is more informational than a legally binding number. If you are within the GVWR and GAWR you are legal, regardless of the number on the yellow payload sticker. Ford decided by putting the lowest available...

    2024 expedition vibration

I think that is true that it is felt throughout... but if there is a front differential problem like we encountered that vibration will travel through the drivetrain since everything is spinning even in 2wd on the 22+. Again, just a theory from my experience on our 23. Also, I feel like there...

    2024 expedition vibration

We had a vibration problem in our 23 Max Limited. Started to notice it around 25k miles and thought it was a tire balance issue. Had the stock 22s rebalanced and did not help anything. At around 30k we put on 20” wheels with 285/55 R20 Michelin Defenders and had a hell of a time with balancing...

Bummer: 2025 has a pathetic payload rating

This matches the OPs payload sticker for the Active he ordered. So this confirms what they started doing in ‘24 with the one size fits all payload stickers. This number is probably much closer to reality on a Platinum SPP than a lightly optioned Active.

Bummer: 2025 has a pathetic payload rating

I wonder if this is carry over from ‘24 where they standardized all the payload stickers. There’s a thread on it where the only thing that made a difference was HD tow. Didn’t matter which trim or other options were on the vehicle. If that is the case you may actually have more payload as your...

Every 2024 Non Max Expedition has the same Payload Sticker

Ford knows the weight of each option so this isn’t hard. They program all that in and based on the build sheet their system knows what the curb weight is vs the GVWR. The cost savings is nil. The question is are they doing the same thing on 24+ F-Series where this number means a lot more from a...

Every 2024 Non Max Expedition has the same Payload Sticker

If this is true did they stop doing a VIN specific payload rating? Seems very strange that they would do that. The GVWR sticker would be the same on a lot of them, but payload # should be representative of the vehicle’s weight as optioned + full tank of fuel subtracted from GVWR.

    Sun roof rattle, yes again

Here’s the TSB for it. The Krytox grease is pricey but it works and plays nice with the seals. Also if you have the back glass rattle try applying grease to the latch for the glass. On our 23 there was absolutely no grease on any latches (that’s union labor for you…. ours was built when they...

    Upgrade due to transmission

My understanding is 23 and up all have the revised CDF drum. Some late 22s may have it as well. Our 23 has 50k miles on it and trans shifts perfect. It took them awhile but I think Ford finally got the 10 speed figured out.

19.3 MPG on 2023 Max Limited, Will Additives Help?

If you’re averaging 19+ in a full-size gas-powered, body on frame SUV you are doing pretty good! Only thing that will do much better is the 3.0 Duramax. Our 23 limited max averages around 18 over its life and we are right at 50k miles on it. Where we live interstate speed limits are 75-80 and...

    303a but with 304a hp/tq added??

Agreed that is standard 3.5 Eco. I believe the VIN also gives it away. 8th position is an '8'. On the HOs this would be 'G'

    303a but with 304a hp/tq added??

It sometime affects what options are included in certain packages. But this one is weird. Seems almost like a misprint to me. But without having the whole sticker or pictures of the vehicle it’s hard to confirm.

    303a but with 304a hp/tq added??

So did we ever figure out if this has the HO engine? Do you have the whole sticker? Was this a Canadian vehicle by chance?
  25. F

    303a but with 304a hp/tq added??

I guess the big drawback to the HO engine is that it requires premium (but I’d wager it’d be fine on 87, just take a performance hit). Fuel mileage is probably identical in the real world. For those that question why they offer a “performance” version of a 6,000 lb SUV well the short answer is...
