Had an IWE fail in an interesting way (2008 4x4)
Normally IWE failure on these presents as clicking/popping in 2WD, and shifting to 4A or 4F resolves it. I had the exact opposite, where 2wd was normal but in 4wd the failing side had a loud repeated clunking under acceleration. Turns out the IWE was being pulled into shape by vacuum under 2wd...- TXResponder
