07 Stumble and surging when warm only.

Need a little help, I rescured a 07 EL EB from a repo lot, got it and it had a very bad missfire but no codes, got it home and found the timing guides were busted, so I replaced, the guides and chains, and did the phaser lockouts. I also have swapped out the plugs for OE ones, cleaned the IAT and TB. When first starting truck runs great, but as soon as it warms up and up put it into gear, it chugs and surges, pulling a slight incline you get a small popping noise alost like a backfire. Doesnt stall or cut off, just shakes and surges, back in park its shaking slightly. Any adivce on where to start? 213k miles on this. Thanks.

At 213,000 I would start by checking for old gas, do a compression check, use a lazer temp meter and see what each cylinder temp is at on exhaust manifold.

I would smoke test the intake system and vacuum hoses, and when you add those phaser lockouts into the equation that opens up a whole new bag.

That is a good price on the smoke machine but you can also build one easily and inexpensively.
